LF instrumentals

So last week, after noticing UserBot was back creating LF pages, I thought to myself, if its contributions are visible through API but not frontend, then maybe I can block it through API even though frontend claims no such user exists. Tried it, it worked, and page creations stopped. Then I started deleting all lyricless LF pages (as I'm sure you noticed).

You can imagine I wasn't very happy when I noticed today that UB was back creating pages… even though it's still blocked (and block won't expire until tomorrow). So either bots aren't affected by blocks (but at least ÜberBot is), or someone "fixed" it to run anyway (despite Sean's claim that no one knows anything about this script)…

So, since deleting lyricless LF pages is pointless, and redirecting them to the correct ns0 page (which in many cases doesn't even exist) is more trouble than it's worth, how about the following hack (wouldn't want to call it a solution): create a dummy LF page, e.g. LyricFind:Instrumental, and redirect all lyricless LF pages to that? The idea makes me cringe, but if LF namespace will eventually be deleted anyway (note I'm writing "if", not "when"), it's only a temporary pain. What do you think? — 6×9 (Talk) 16:57, June 24, 2014 (UTC)

  • Yes, I did notice your new attack on ns 222 :). Now, after your comment, I finally understand the reason, why have you decided that (n+1)th attemtp may be more succesfull than n previous... :).
  • Yes, nothing's changing in wikia stuff - either nobody knows anything or just don't wanna share their knowledge
  • Yes, "solution" hardly may be qualified as impeccable from systematic point of view, but that's exactly why I like it very much ;) Just let me know if you need some Lwt assistance in your job.
Well Done!, --Senvaikis (talk) 20:00, June 24, 2014 (UTC)
We'll see how far I get :-) For now, I'm limiting it to pages with size <= 200 and deleting (now redirecting) those where text between tags is either whitespace-only (vast majority) or contains string "instrumental". Most of what was left after that was redirects on which ÜB had slapped a merge template... — 6×9 (Talk) 20:45, June 24, 2014 (UTC)
Increased maxsize to 500; vast majority still lyricless. Maybe we should keep this page around, just to show to people who want to turn LW into a discography site… — 6×9 (Talk) 14:50, July 1, 2014 (UTC)
Why then don't you want to select LFs by a given max-length/pattern of content between <lyricfind> tags, - with 100% accuracy?. Once again, let me know if Lwt may help you here. Nice sample, btw - we should definitely keep it ;) --Senvaikis (talk) 17:18, July 1, 2014 (UTC)
I set maxsize originally because I wasn't aware of how huge the extra-lyrical content could get and wanted to avoid loading hundreds of pages just to redirect one. But by now I've extended the script a bit, so I might as well run it across the whole set.
Here's what the script currently does:
  • redirect to LF:I if length(lyrics) < 10 OR lyrics == song title OR (contains "instrumental" or "no lyrics") and length < 50 length limit because these words might appear in regular lyrics OR lyric has 3 or less unique chars quite a number of pages had "asdasdasd", "sdfsdfsdf" or "qweqweqwe"… not sure if LF is trolling us, or someone is trolling them…
  • else try to find (main) page, if found:
    • if lyrics are identical, redirect LF to (main)
      • if LF has songwriter="…" and (main) has no CreditBox, add CB to (main)
    • else if LF doesn't have tl:merge, add it to LF and (main) page
Any more checks I could add? Maybe I should look for GN pages of the same name while I'm at it, and delete them if lyrics are identical.
Oh, and if Lwt is bored :-), it could start to tackle Category:Requests For Moves – if artist & title match an external source, move the page & add templates. — 6×9 (Talk) 08:14, July 2, 2014 (UTC)
Yep, that's a Job - respect(condolence)!
As always, the most interesting for me are such "plain & simple" parts as
  • "find the matching main page" (matching with what precision? what is your algorithm for such matching?)
  • "check if lyrics are identical" (the same Q)
  • "add credits from LF" (should bot trust all LF credits or make some recheck? Should it add links to author LW page, if available? (There are lot of LF-authors, having lw-pages, but under different name)... etc)
I've reviewed some your recent contribs trying to find an answers to above questions, and seems to me you still may tighten your "matching conditions". So, stripping spaces and lines, matching some patterns before checking your condition for moving to LF:I would lead to increasing the number of moved pages (see LyricFind:Elton John:Highlander). The same should be said about the checking of lyrics identity. Seems you treat this identity literally. But do we really need this tiresome balast of merging just for some negligible differences in lyrics punctuation? (see Electric Light Orchestra:Second Time Around).
--Senvaikis (talk) 15:18, July 2, 2014 (UTC)
Main priority (at first) was just the lyricless pages, all the other stuff was added and tweaked while I ran it, so the code is looks horrible right now. Could be worse though – max. indent level is 7.
  • Finding main page: follow any redirects; first a direct match, then inicap each word, if song title has "(" strip that (from right to left), if artist is redirect get actual artist and try all of the above again with that one.
  • Identical lyrics: I've tweaked the comparison to only compare alphanumericals, apostrophes (replacing ’ ´ ‘ `) and whitespace. I guess I could go one further and treat those with Levenshtein distance / length < 0.01 as identical :-) ELO was unfortunate example, btw, because a couple words are different as well. Haven't tested if it's below 0.01 though :-)
  • Credits: Maybe it's best to just ignore them entirely; LF is way too unreliable. As soon as there are two songs by different artists with same title, they're almost sure to mix up either lyrics, credits or both. — 6×9 (Talk) 16:39, July 2, 2014 (UTC)
  • #2: Yes, example was unhappy, even after my attempts to avoid mistake, checking texts with minimal possible leva,b value ;). Well, let's take another sample then: if you strip all punktuation from the lyrics, result will be identical for both lw & lf versions: "weightlessmybabysasleepsomethingsjustdisappearweightlessmybabysasleepfloatingdreamingnodangerjustsweet"
  • #3: I'd like such (or similar) decision. For example, we could define lf credits merging requirement as optional in such cases, when lf author doesn't have lw page. Above Enigma sample may be taken as an example of such situation: almost all possible aliases of Michael Cretu are used by lf (Cretu, Michael Cretu, Curly M.C...), making correct (lw-linked) merge of such credits de facto impossible (at least for bot).
But then our instruction for Hercules should at least mention a posibility of such mitigation... :)

--Senvaikis (talk) 13:28, July 3, 2014 (UTC)

#2: I do that sort of "lax" comparison when checking if lyric == song title; I deliberately didn't use it for comparing lyrics, because I don't want to redirect well-formed lyrics to badly-formed (no line breaks, all lowercase etc.) ones. The sanitizing function could use further tweaking though (like ignoring lines with words like "chorus" or "verse" and little to nothing else). Running both checks should be a good way of finding pairs with near-identical but differently formatted lyrics though.
#3: Plus, LF credits are often (but not always) all-uppercase, and mostly (but not always) in the format "Lastname, Firstname Middlename1 Middlename2 etc." I suspect they sometimes make middle names up just to make it look more impressive; anyway we don't have an artist page for John Davies Cale, and usually separated by " / " but sometimes only "/" (though that's the smallest problem)…
Btw, I finally got myself a bot account – pity 101010 was already taken… — 6×9 (Talk) 16:32, July 3, 2014 (UTC)
Maybe 0.01 is too strict… LyricFind:*NSYNC:Crazy for You vs. *NSYNC:Crazy For You has 0.019 and differences are negligible. (Yeah, sample of 1, very scientific…) I'll increase it to 0.02 and see how it goes…
LF linebreaks aren't always the bee's knees either where does that saying even come from??, if lyrics don't already have paragraphs they seem to insert a blank for each 4 lines – see LF vs. main. — 6×9 (Talk) 18:23, July 3, 2014 (UTC)
Your last observation about lf-lyrics "format" is one more argument in favor of simplified (stripped) comparison imo. I'd better agree to add/remove a few punctuation marks in existing lyrics instead of tedious merging, especially keeping in mind that lf's formatting not necessarily should be correct and therefore just can't be accepted without rechecking. What is the point then to leave such merge request?. Well, in the end - it's your affair, I just said my opinion.
That was nice idea to ask me about the genesis of cliche "bee's knees" - I've had to learn its meaning for beginning :)
Congrats with running a bot finally! Hope that should remarkably increase understanding between your double and my dual identities :)
I know you don't like to disclose any personal info, but sometimes I'm also curious, just contrary to Rx, I'd like to know your profession, not age. A gallery of odd musical instruments in your profile shouldn't mislead nobody - your math knowledge is too good for musician. But your inclination to philosophy and specific sense of humor is hardly imaginable for mathematician. If you were a programmer, you'd run 2A earlier... Remains only one choice - you are natur-philosoph, or just physicist. Am I right?
nite, --Senvaikis (talk) 21:56, July 3, 2014 (UTC)
Turns out the sanitizing function already strips blank lines… side effect of ignoring lines with only 2 chars or less. So at least my subconscious was listening to you :-) Still don't want to ignore line breaks completely, since some lyrics are just blobs of text without any; now I ignore them unless LF has at least twice as many (again, ignoring blank lines).
After setting the bot flag, semanticdrifter warned me to "make sure that it does not achieve sentience"; I replied that our expierence with semi-sentient bots so far was positive :-) Dunno if they got the hidden joke; after all, there is no cyborg flag yet…
Yep, I'm definitely not a musician. (Maybe odd that, the way I love music, I don't play any instrument…) That link is mainly there because I'd found the site shortly before I created my userpage, and I've been to lazy to update it since. All other suggestions are partially right, or not too far off the mark – I love mathematics, but not nearly enough to become a mathematician; I once studied chemistry, but that didn't work out for various reasons; and now I'm a sysadmin, but the whole IT dept. having only 3 people (including me) means I have to do a little bit of everything (which I actually like that way).
Hmm, "2A" could be short for "to answer", as in "… the question"; wonder if DA was aware of that… — 6×9 (Talk) 08:03, July 4, 2014 (UTC)

Imcomplete lyrics

Hi. I checked this page Kix:She Dropped Me The Bomb and the lyrics are imcomplete. I think i saw in another lyric an warning like: "this lyrics is incomplete. you can help complete". Is it possible to add a warning? If yes, how can i do? Thanks. Songsbr (talk) 04:10, July 4, 2014 (UTC)

API caching

Is there a way to bypass/purge the API cache? So that when I update a page and then fetch it again a short while later, I don't get the pre-update version? "action=purge" doesn't help… I'd like to avoid cases like this one when processing two LF pages for the same song. Any ideas? — 6×9 (Talk) 17:50, July 12, 2014 (UTC)

I'm not sure if that's universal "solution", but in most cases adding some unique fake attribute to a query should help.
I use "&qq=" & Now.Ticks.ToString for that :) --Senvaikis (talk) 18:22, July 12, 2014 (UTC)
Wow, thanks! That trick did the trick! Since I'm using the pywikibot framework I had to change one of its methods; gotta remember that when I update it! — 6×9 (Talk) 18:51, July 12, 2014 (UTC)

Hi! The link to Amazon not works, can you fix it, please? --Dante81 (talk) 23:06, July 15, 2014 (UTC)

No, I can fix only links to existing external sources - don't know where this asin was taken from, but it's definitely invalid, thus should have been just removed.
Hope you don't mind some albs, added to BL page as a small compensation for deleted asin :) --Senvaikis (talk) 08:41, July 16, 2014 (UTC)
P.S. Sorry, - haven't noticed your link to the source asin was taken from :). That makes things clearer - the link leads to Italian Amazon site (amazon.it). Unfortunatelly, contrary to {{iTunes}} , external links to national Amazon sites aren't (yet?) supported in {{asin}}, thus you should limit your amazon-links to amazon.com only.
Ok, I see. Thank you for reply and thank you very much for the albums :) --Dante81 (talk) 13:37, July 16, 2014 (UTC)

Loretta Goggi

But the title of the song is "Vieni via con me (Taratapunzi-e...)", see the original single. "Vieni via con me" is the album title instead, and the short title of the song. Is good if the song page have the right title. (Note: the 2008 album title is "I grandi successi originali") --Dante81 (talk) 23:50, July 17, 2014 (UTC)

  • Yes, the title of the single song was "Vieni via con me (Taratapunzi-e...)", and I do know that :). But later this song has been included into multiple releases, - sometime under the same, but more and more often with the time passing by - under a shortened title (see wp, mb, amg, iT, offsite etc). You definitely know one of the main LW pagenaming policy rules: "One song - one page". So we should decide which title should be used for such song page. You may disagree, but song searchability should be considered as one of the most deciding factor in such choice imo. The higher probability of searching under particular title - the higher searchability of page, using this title. That's why I decided to redirect VVCM(T) to VVCM, not vice versa. I'm not a big expert in Italian pop music, thus may be wrong. If you have some solid arguments that redirect should be reverted - feel free to do that by yourself or just let me know :).
  • The similar situation is with the title of mentioned compilation. If you have noticed, album cover title contains two different-colored parts: "I grandi successi" & "originali". Usually such technique is used to separate album title from some additional notation ("Originals", "Remastered" etc), which should not always be included into album page title - that's why it was ommited. But considering existence of another same-titled 2008 compilation, seems this decision wasn't the best :). More over - now I'm not even sure if "...originali" was released in 2008 - some sources (amz, simpatyrecords etc) point to 2002... So, I agree that this album should be renamed. Would you mind to do that?
Thanks for collaboration and these notes, and happy editing, --Senvaikis (talk) 07:58, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
1) I don't know which is the right solution but this is the Wikipedia page for the single. I think the songs should have the right complete title and other titles redirects there. 2) "I grandi successi originali" is a large collection of compilations, I think they should have the same (right) title. Ok, now I'll move it. Thank you and sorry for my English. --Dante81 (talk) 15:54, July 18, 2014 (UTC)

Tom Hooker

Hi. This singer called Tom Hooker (!?!) released in 1985 a single called "Swiss Boy" but he used the name Lou Sern. I have to create a new page to Lou Sern or I add in the page Tom Hooker? Can u please tell how it's the correct way because its my first here with an aliase I don't know if is Tom Hooker:Swiss Boy or Lou Sern:Swiss Boy then the page Lou sern will be redirect... i can't find a help page about this.. thank you. Songsbr (talk) 22:40, July 20, 2014 (UTC)

Both we aren't very good at English, thus I just made an example for you, - hope it will be more useful than my long explanations :).
Here's a short list of things you'd notice:
  • creating album/songs under alias name
  • using "Alias" in {{Album}}
  • using "alias" and "albumartist" in {{Song}}
  • using "albumartist" in {{Album Art}}
  • creating redirects "alias" -> "artist"

missing LF (non-)artists

Hi Senv,
yesterday I made a list of all LF artists (see comm.portal). I uploaded the list of "missing" artists here (~600 KB). Can you use your experience and external resources try sorting this into (1) "artists" that shouldn't exist (local school bands etc.), (2) artists that should exist but don't, (3) name variations of (2), (4) name variations of existing ns0 artists, (5)-(n) any more categories you can think of? Anything that shaves a couple thousand pages off this list would help a lot. Thx in advance! — 6×9 (Talk) 09:07, August 3, 2014 (UTC)

Great idea (though not simple to realize). I'd be glad to start the job right now, but... fishing has a higher priority during my vacation ;). Anyways, thanks for a list - I'll take a look what may be done here, just later... --Senvaikis (talk) 20:27, August 3, 2014 (UTC)
Ooh, sorry, didn't know you were on vacation, else I wouldn't have mentioned anything LF-related (it's bad enough to scare off the fish). Happy fishing! — 6×9 (Talk) 21:05, August 3, 2014 (UTC)
Here's my 1-st attempt, taken on a short pause in fishing (weather...).
Don't know any other way to answer the question if some artist "should exist", as looking for this artist info on mb, dog, iT & amg. Amazon may be exluded - I haven't seen yet any amz artist, not having links to at least one of mentioned sites. Strictly speaking, amg isn't very usefull here also, giving only negligible correction. That's why I used only mb, iT and dog to select a list of 33136 artists, having at least one external link - let's say they "should exist" :). Rest 8313 artists doesn't have links to any of mentioned sites. Keep in mind that search was made using "strict case-insensitive matching". More detailed info - here.
cheers, --Senvaikis (talk) 20:56, August 18, 2014 (UTC)
Great, thanks! So about 1/3 have matches at all three sites, it should be safe to create & boatchmove those – with following caveat…
A while later I got the song counts for each "artist" (should have done that in the first place, maybe): of those ~40,000 without LW page, more than half have only one song. More than half of the rest have only 2, haven't followed it further though… Those with no ext. match should be safe to delete as misspellings or misattributions. Not sure if it makes sense to create pages for those with ext. links either; might still be misattributed, or "just" a featured artist… What do you think? No hurry, fishing is more important :-)
There are also many many jazz artists that appear to have played various standards at one time or another; don't even want to know how many LF pages of "'S Wonderful" or "Autumn Leaves" there are. Problem is, they might have played instrumental versions, but LF doesn't care about that… Again, not sure whether to batch-delete them or move them to an artist page no one might ever visit… — 6×9 (Talk) 10:42, August 19, 2014 (UTC)

Explanations and more caching problems

Hello again! Let's get to the points as per the heading...

  1. I thought that I should probably explain why I marked Laveerre:Pieni Poika for deletion. Well, when I first created this page, I mistook the song for Kaverit:Pieni Poika II instead. When it got to me that I actually transcribed the lyrics for the latter, I moved the former to correct this mistake, but of course the automatic redirect creation had to ruin it - the redirect was incorrect, due to the song and lyrics being obviously different. I then thought that I should probably try to get the redirect deleted, but clearly there was a misunderstanding with my reasoning. :( Thankfully, Pieni Poika now has its correct lyrics courtesy of User:Saatananmoinen, so this episode is closed for now. :)
  2. And about the caching problems; File:Edu Kehäkettunen - Räppäävä Älykääpiö EP.jpg is still showing the LP artwork instead of the CD one on Edu Kehäkettunen and Edu Kehäkettunen:Räppäävä Älykääpiö EP (2003) which I first uploaded (note: I replaced it just for consistency's sake!) while it displays correctly on the file page. It hasn't changed for quite a while now... Any ideas?

Thanks, Zabidenu (talkcontribs) 13:31, August 25, 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Zabidenu,
thanks for your notes, though as you understand, I have practically nothing to do with them, so let me just add some comments:
  1. #Redirect & {{deletion}} are two mutual-exclusive directives, therefore usually should not be used side by side on the same page.
  2. Image caching side-effects always were more or less notable on LW, especially during some changes.
  3. But the cached image is not the worst thing on mentioned artist pages. Take it easy, but all this mess of aliases, solo releases, mixed with collabs; versioning and other additional notations, included into pagetitles; unresolved redirs etc make page look really terrible. I'd recommend you to reread lw docs and try to follow our pagenaming & formatting policies more diligently.
cheers, --Senvaikis (talk) 19:14, August 25, 2014 (UTC)
All understandable! Thanks for responding, at least. Just noting that it's not me who came up with that mess of a page... Caching problems just are a major point of OCD for me. :) Zabidenu (talkcontribs) 19:18, August 25, 2014 (UTC)
Take a look at the changes I've made to some albs/songs/imgs on the mentioned page, trying to bring some release to your OCD :). Still a lot of job left to be done here though...

Error in display information

On the page for The Irish Rovers where lyrics have been posted for the albums that I have helped out with, that apparently one of the songs from the album "The Boys Come Rollin' Home" is incorrect. I know it has been edited, the track listing for The Boys Come Rollin' Home as the last track is "Let The Good Guys Win". I'm not too sure why this is but since I own the cassette and CD version of this Irish Rover's album, it tells me that track 15 is actually "Farmer's Song".

I would like to fix the error. Here's a link to confirm that "Farmer's Song" is the right track name: theballadeers.com

Same song versions with different lyrics

Hey, I got a question. I couldn't find anything on "Help" section, so I'm going to seek answer in the source. How do you manage with 2 versions of song (ex. 2 albums) made by one band and it got different lyrics? I should do one version above another on song page or create different page with other name? Ozpl18 (talk) 20:42, August 30, 2014 (UTC)

If songs lyrics are essentially different, they should get a separate pages, leaving default title for original or more famous version and adding some additional notation (usually albtitle or release year) to other versions.--Senvaikis (talk) 20:56, August 30, 2014 (UTC)

Not sure if there are more protected covers songs, which aren't linked at the Led Zep page.

I had a look at LyricWiki:GNLF and it states the unlocking as done, so I guess these pages are some the bots didn't catch. Could they get unblocked or are those pages in Category:Unlicensed_Lyrics/LF some kind of special?

To be honest - I really don't know. Hope Sean does...--Senvaikis (talk) 20:43, September 4, 2014 (UTC)
P.S. My apologies for such laconic answer - was watching a basketball (Lithuania vs Slovenia). Lietuva laimėjo! :)
Sorry for replying that late, but thank you nonetheless for your answer. I will reach out to him about it.

SOTD for 4 Sep 2014

The SOTD for 4 Sep 2014 "Here I Am" is credited to the group Spirit. However, that is not correct, it is from the movie soundtrack "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron Wikipedia16" and is sung by Bryan Adams. So do I do a redirect for the "Spirit:Here I Am" song page and also remove it from the Spirit artist page?

Read'em And Weep (talk) 04:19, September 5, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, you are absolutely right, - done; thx, --Senvaikis (talk) 17:08, September 5, 2014 (UTC)

Help renaming Warwick's "Do You Know The Way To San Jose" please

Hi! I tried to rename Dionne Warwick:Do You Know The Way To San José to the correctly unaccented Dionne Warwick:Do You Know The Way To San Jose to match the official song title & city name, but there's a redirect in the way pointing the opposite direction. Could you please rename/move the song so it's in the right place? Thank you for doing the behind-the-scenes work at LyricWikia! —Xyzzy (talk) 10:00, September 8, 2014 (UTC)

done; + 2 notes in addition:
  1. Title: Wouldn't it be sensible to make some remark about that on the song page, since accented form of title was used on remarkable part of releases (1, 2 etc)?
  2. Move over redir: actually you don't need any admin help for such task in most cases: just open both pages (source & target) for edit, copy target page text and paste it over redir directive on the target page. Make required changes if needed and save the target. Then replace source page text with according redir directive and save it. Yes, that's not a one-click task for ordinary user, but at the same time - not very complicated too. Anyways - feel free to ask my help if you'll be lazy (and for any other reason) ;)

Shrinking?

Hi Senvaikis, Can you tell me how it is possible that the total number of pages on the Lyrics.Wikia site is decreasing every, well, minute? I remember the site was heading for the 3 million number and now it's counted down to (as I write this) 2.152.204... Are you cleaning the site? Is there something wrong? --Markcoutinho (talk) 15:25, September 10, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, the total count of pages is decreasing, and yes, we may call that as some kind of site cleaning, thus no - nothing's wrong with that - just LW's slowly getting rid of two cluttered namespaces. You may take a look here to see what namespaces I'm talking about and whos's that Hercules, making this titanic job of cleaning these Augean Stables :) --Senvaikis (talk) 17:03, September 10, 2014 (UTC)

Album Photo Counter

I recently added a new album ("From The Vaults") and album cover picture to The Beau Brummels' artist page. My methodology is to add the album by first putting it on the artist page, then create the album page, and finally use the upload button on the album page to load the album cover picture. However, when I checked the photo counter on my profile page, it did not increment after the photo upload (everything else incremented correctly). I am curious why the counter did not increment. Is there a bug in the code that controls the counter or should I be doing the photo uploads a different way?

Read'em And Weep (talk) 02:52, September 11, 2014 (UTC)

Should confess I don't know what "photo counter" are you speaking about, 'cause I couldn't find such counter neither in your nor in my own profile page :). Maybe it's disabled by some of my preferencies or custom user.CSS (couldn't find this counter even after log-off). Anyways, if such counter existed, its value updating could be affected by LW image caching - just can't find any other sensible reason :).
Now I may only confirm that you have 235 edits (see your Editcount or contribs) and 8 deleted contribs in LW 6'th namespace atm. The actual number of existing files, uploaded/updated by you, should be equal to the count of unique items in this list of 235 contribs, i.e. 228 (226 - with a flag "New").
Btw, could you please make a screenshot of your profile page for me? Just curious how this counter looks like :) --Senvaikis (talk) 06:25, September 11, 2014 (UTC)
Sorry - only now I realized two things. First of all, you've been asking about Album Photo counter, not about all images counter... :) That slightly changes the possible reason - it may be related to the fact, that albumart template is dependant from the album page. So, when you create an album page, it doesn't contain albumart image yet. Then you create and upload this image, but album page still "doesn't know" about that :). You should update or at least touch (just open for edit and save) this album page to make this image the "full-fledged AlbumArt". Here are two screenshots of mentioned image page I've made for you to illustrate this situation. Notice, that backlink to album initially was unavailable and appeared on image page only after the album page was touched. If Album art counter counts only images, having a backlinks to albums, that could explain the situation.
Btw, this albumart-album dependance is mutual, thus a similar situation, related to this dependance, may occur if you try to use another scenario for image upload (my bot Lwt usually uses it): upload an albumart, while album page doesn't exist yet, and only after that create the album. Don't be surprise, but even after album creation albumart image still remains a member of Category:Album art without album - it still "doesn't know" about album existing untill being at least touched...

I've tried it and after about a hour it still didn't refreshed correctly, but I'll check tomorrow and then we'll see. :) ~ Ozpl18 (talk) 20:28, September 11, 2014 (UTC)
Edit 1: It didn't work for me. As 2 days ago, I've still got 29 on counter, though I added some more. I'll try add it some new and then answer again. :) Ozpl18 (talk) 21:40, September 13, 2014 (UTC)

Updating song listings on Irish Rovers webpage

hi, there is something I'd like to bring to your attention if possible. I've been reviewing the listing for the Irish Rovers album "Emigrate, Emigrate" since I got the LP in the mail today. The track listing on the back of my LP states that track 12 is correct, but it's telling me "The Gypsy". It's really no big deal but I'm just wondering if it's possible to change the track name to "The Gypsy" so this way it does show that some tracks do come from the LP version that are also on the CD version but this way it would be neat to see that both versions are being credited here. Also for track 10 I noticed that it has been posted as "Children of Maten" when my LP tells me the track name is "Children of Hate". This still brings up the first idea I had so I hope you can take this into consideration when making your decision to edit the track names hopefully.

~~thecaringguy~~

Hi, thecaringguy, -
thanks for info; feel free to make all required changes by yourself, 'cause actually any admin help isn't required for that imo. However, - let me know if you still need some my assistance.
Happy editing, --Senvaikis (talk) 08:39, September 17, 2014 (UTC)
P.S. Please sign your messages using four symbols "~" (or click special button Button sig, titled "Your signature with timestamp", available on edit window toolbar). Thanks.

I'm having some difficulty understanding how to put together a webpage. Most sites on this server have a section that details the contents from albums by specific singers, and I'm having great difficulty trying to figure out how to set it up (example: Roger Whittaker - it's the 2 small boxes for Contents and the singer) I hope you can help me or advice me so I can understand how to edit webpages with much better understanding.

--Thecaringguy (talk) 08:33, September 18, 2014 (UTC)

Those two boxes have been formed automatically by the page templates, so you certainly have nothing to do with them - all your editing work should flow in page edit window. I've seen your recent additions on mentioned page and noticed one common mistake: missed performer name in song title preffix. According to our pagenaming policy song title should meet the pattern "<Artist name>:<Song title>". So, link to song The Impossible Dream in album The Balladeer (1979) doesn't meet this requirement. Album On Broadway (1995) contains correctly formatted link to the same song - as you may notice, it starts wth the artist name, followed by colon: Roger Whittaker:The Impossible Dream. That's why I've chose this link for a small demo for you. Feel free to ask any other questions (but don't forget to study our documentation before that) ;)
Good luck, --Senvaikis (talk) 10:03, September 18, 2014 (UTC)

Question

Hi. This song Leandro & Leonardo:Eu Juro is a adapted version in portuguese of the song John Michael Montgomery:I Swear. I will add the template -Cover|John Michael Montgomery|I Swear- in the song "Eu Juro". Now, if another artist recorded the version in portuguese, i have to say that is a cover of the english version or the portuguese? thanks Songsbr (talk) 11:37, September 18, 2014 (UTC)

Have not spare time for rechecking atm, but I think you'd hardly find any wel-defined instructions for such situation in our docs...
If you'd asked my personal opinion - I'd choose the original song as the real, final source of the cover. (Btw, the similar situation may occur even with same-language-covers: when some song has n covered vesions, n'th version actually may be the cover of some k'th cover, but we are pointing to the 1'st as the source nevertheless...)
One more argument for such point of view - you don't need to add slightly strange-looking in such case template {{Cover2}} or {{Covered}} to Leandro & Leonardo:Eu Juro... ;)
cheers,--Senvaikis (talk) 12:24, September 18, 2014 (UTC)
first let me say thank you for your great help with brazilian artists. about the covers, as u say, better choose the original song, just because to me is a important info. the others templates you mentioned i will not use. thanks Songsbr (talk) 13:01, September 18, 2014 (UTC)

I take a week break - going to Paris. What a pity I don't know your address, Lirfie... ;) --Senvaikis (talk) 07:49, September 19, 2014 (UTC)

Page move

Hi, hope you had a good time in Paris! I was wondering, could you move Linkin Park:Fear (Leave Out All The Rest Demo 2006) to Linkin Park:Fear, to remove the notation? I cannot because a redirect is in the way. Thank you, OneTwoThreeFall talk 15:58, September 27, 2014 (UTC)

If you've ever been to Paris, you'll understand - I really had a great time!
Task: done. Btw, you'd easily solve this task (move over redir) by yourself, if noticed my comment #2 in a message few posts above :)
cheers, --Senvaikis (talk) 17:11, September 27, 2014 (UTC)
