Laura Pausini etc

Thanks for your guide. I'm very new here, although ready to share and give the best from what I can.

I left a message on the same talk you wrote to me, not being sure if it's the best place to do so. Please, let me know your suggestions. 14:45, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

By the way, I'm Cauac ;-)

Another question, I guess that I properly updated "one More Time" info. It appears on "messege in a bottle (1999)" soundtrack, Spanish and Italian versions of "The best of Laura Pausini…"… and I added both "20 - The Greatest Hits" and "20 - Grandes Éxitos", but the new info I added was not published… why?

See response on User_talk:Cauac page. --Senvaikis (talk) 20:26, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

Weekly e-mail digest notifications

For some reason, I am no longer receiving the weekly digest of updates to the pages that I follow. I used to receive it every Sunday, but I haven't gotten one in the past two weeks, and I'm pretty sure that some of the pages that I follow have been changed by at least bots.

Last time I had this problem, I saw that my e-mail address needed to be reconfirmed. But it doesn't look like that's the problem this time. I checked my preferences, and I still have the check mark next to receiving the digest.

Is anyone else having this problem? Thanks. --Arwen4CJ Talk 20:58, January 20, 2014 (UTC)

I haven't heard about e-mail problems from anybody else yet, but seems that your problem may be just one of side-effects of some more general LW-problems (server slow-down/freezing, suspended jobs for SPs updating etc). Unfortunatelly I have neither any info about the nature of these probs nor any possibility to change something. You may want to contact with Sean or someone else in wiki tech-stuff. Good luck, --Senvaikis (talk) 21:14, January 20, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. That's all I needed to know -- if it was something that was related to all the changes going on, or if it was something random that was happening. I will contact Sean about it and ask him. --Arwen4CJ Talk 02:02, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

Anybody, who knows - what's going on with LW (suspended jobs, ruined/faked categories etc)?!. Should we just wait for a better days or that's The End comin'? --Senvaikis (talk) 06:25, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

I don't know if this will help at all, but yesterday when I was editing some songs, one of them showed some really weird thing in preview mode. It basically said everything was invalid, and it just looked weird. I figured it was something that was going on with the categories or the site (that someone was playing with them). I hit save, and the saved version looked like the preview version had (weird). I then checked the other pages on the album, and they looked normal. That one still looked strange. So all I did was go back to the weird looking page, did nothing except hit save again, and then it looked normal again. That fixed the issue with that page.
Maybe that weird thing happened with other pages as well, and all that would be required would be to just hit "save" again?
I checked the pages I edited yesterday to see if it showed what it looked like in the history, and it didn' I can't show you what it looked like :( It did look like it had something to do with categories. I have no idea what the cause was. If it happens again, I'll show you what it looks like. It's probably related. --Arwen4CJ Talk 13:56, January 21, 2014 (UTC)

Looks like the job-queue gets behind a lot (stats) but that it is actually moving. Maybe the fact that it's 800,000 behind is just what's messing up all of the categories?

AlbumTitle vs AlbumPagename

Hi Senvaikis

I have made a mistake and wrote the album title wrong - and I don't know how to change it (if I can ...). It was an album of the french singer "Georges Moustaki" (which by the way exists also as egyptian singer under the same name - so you can find two "Georges Moustaki" - he was born in Egypt but he was french ...). The album is correctly written "Ballades En Balade" and I named it incorrectly "Ballades En Ballades". Can you change that? Thank you very much - and sorry for the mistake. Greetings Bruno (Bruno's + Gaston's) --Bruno's + Gaston’s (talk) 01:01, February 4, 2014 (UTC)Bruno's + Gaston's

Hi, Bruno,
thanks for your contribution to LW, and you really should not appologize for any mistakes; believe me, - I'm making/fixing hundreds of such type mistakes per day :).
Initially I've thought you are speaking about renaming ("moving") of album page (you may do that by yourself from "Edit" popup menu subitem "Rename"). But page was titled correctly, so I realized you were talking not about the AlbumPageName, but about AlbumTitle, i.e. {{AlbumHeader}} parameter "Album". This task is even simplier - the value of this parameter may be edited by any user just in page edit mode.
This time I've done that for you done, - hth and happy editing --Senvaikis (talk) 06:44, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

Weird Errors

I'm sure you're already aware of this, but all of the pages that are being edited now are displaying errors. I edited one page a couple minutes ago, and it displayed the error. No page that isn't edited shows the error. I looked at the recent edits on the right hand side, and all of them show the error as well. Hopefully you guys are already working on this :) --Arwen4CJ Talk 14:24, February 5, 2014 (UTC)

Never mind. It looks like the problem has been fixed now :) --Arwen4CJ Talk 14:27, February 5, 2014 (UTC)
Interesting. This happened to my edits too. I was adding the new album to Die Krupps and suddenly the page turned up with a strange error message which I'm unable to understand why. I didn't even commit anything in the ArtistHeader part, just added a new album to it? What's going on here? Rhonda D'Vine (talk) 14:34, February 5, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, it seems to go off and on. It showed up a couple weeks ago, but only intermittently. I found out that if I do nothing to the page, and keep on hitting edit and save, eventually it will save it properly, without the weird errors. However, if you don't do this to the page (keep on attempting to save it until it looks normal), it will continue to display the errors, which I'm sure will cause a headache for the admin.
I had to try and save one of the pages like 5 times before it looked normal again.
Is this another side effect of the merging of the pages? --Arwen4CJ Talk 14:46, February 5, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for info, and yes, - I've noticed these errors also, but no, - I'm not working on this, for a very simple reason - next to you, I just can't fix this bug... I suppose these pageprocessing errors may be related to some broken updates of wiki extensions or just server overload, but that's only my humble guess. Sorry, but can't help here (that's why I suspended most of Lwt tasks, if you have noticed...). Use this opportunity and take a rest too :). --Senvaikis (talk) 16:36, February 5, 2014 (UTC)
Is there any way to let people know that if they see this error, all they need to do is keep hitting on "edit" and "publish" until the page doesn't display the error? Someone is going to have to go through and do that with all the pages that have this error message on them anyway, because that is the only way to fix them.  :( --Arwen4CJ Talk 18:34, February 5, 2014 (UTC)

Heyo Senv,

Quick question. Seems just recently these...things started popping up above the recent changes feed when you access a song page. Is there a way to disable it or was this a feature implemented into the wiki that I was unaware about? Or am I the only one seeing these? Mind you, I use AdBlock for Google Chrome, so I don't think this is a conventional "ad" as it's not being hidden by the plug-in. XxTimberlakexx (talk) (contribs)
Yep, new feature. Sean announced it a while ago here. — 6×9 (Talk) 05:53, February 6, 2014 (UTC)
Ah, okay. Just goes to show I'm not really up-to-speed on the Community Portal ;P. Is there a way to disable it, though? I don't really want it on my interface, to be completely honest, as it takes up the space where I'm used to the recent changes feed being, and I like the feed being right there in my vision. Now, I have to look below the widget and it doesn't feel right.
Also, isn't this just unnecessary redundancy for some pages? I noticed will literally just find a YouTube video of a song to stream, which is quite pointless for songs that already have YouTube embedded. XxTimberlakexx (talk) (contribs)23:55, February 6, 2014 (UTC)
Not to be rude or impatient or anything, but it feels really awkward when I see you responding to other people's questions on your talk page while mine is left unanswered. I'd just really like to know if it's possible to disable the plugin - I've been trying to tolerate it for the past week and I'm not enjoying it. Respond when you can. Tongue XxTimberlakexx (talk) (contribs)23:01, February 11, 2014 (UTC)
Your question wasn't left unanswered - it was followed by almost imediate 6's answer. You may find a lot of such questions, "tackled" by other admins on my talk page history, and usually I append my answer only if I disagree or have some additional info.
But if that makes you feel less awkward, I may repeat once more - I don't like all such kind "beauties" on LW too, but have no any capabilities to remove them. --Senvaikis (talk) 06:59, February 12, 2014 (UTC)
My question was left unanswered, actually: after 6's response, I asked another bunch of questions, the main one asking if I was able to disable the widget. Did you not see that? (not to mention 6 didn't answer any of my questions in the first place, he simply said "here, Sean announced it a while ago")
Also, I understand that, but I was asking if there was any way to disable it from my perspective. Like, I assumed there was something in My Preferences that could turn it off for just me. Sorry for the miscommunication, but I would like an answer to that now, more specifically.
One last thing, though: did Sean actually get any input on this from users here before implementing it? It doesn't seem like he did judging by the link 6 posted. XxTimberlakexx (talk) (contribs)22:28, February 12, 2014 (UTC)
Hi XxTimberlakexx, I know that Firefox add-on Stylish can get rid of a lot of unwanted clutter from any web page. Maybe that is of use to you. Cheers, --MarjonW (talk) 10:47, February 13, 2014 (UTC)

Two goear links for one song

I was wondering whether or not it is possible to use two goear links for one song. I remember seeing someone ask a question about this regarding youtube videos, and that one of the admin provided an additional parameter to make this possible, but I couldn't find this question or was from awhile ago. Thank you. --Arwen4CJ Talk 14:40, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

SongFooter doesn't support multiple goear, but you may add any(alternative) external link, using template ExtLink.
hth, --Senvaikis (talk) 19:46, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

Wedding Celebration by !Hero: The Rock Opera

This is a red link currently, and I listened to it and have some of the lyrics, so I wanted to create the page. However, I'm unsure of what to name it. It is on my Simply Incredible New Music Sampler CD. The artist on the cover is listed as !Hero: The Rock Opera. However, when I opened the booklet that came with the CD, it appears as if that is the name of a compilation CD that several artists were involved with.

The Wedding Celebration track features Michael Tait (Tait), GRITS, and Nirva.

The description found in the booklet says this: "From the album !Hero, The Rock Opera

What if He were born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania?  !Hero, The Rock Opera is a 33 song double-disc CD produced by Pete Stewart, featuring the talent of Michael Tait (Dc Talk, Tait), Rebecca St. James, Mark Stuart (Audio Adrenaline), T-Bone, John Cooper (Skillet), Grits, Nirva, Matt Hammitt (Sanctus Real).  !Hero is the story of what the world would look like if the Messiah had not come until now - born in Bethlehem...Pennsylvania and raised on the streets of New York City."

Wedding Celebration is one of these 33 songs featured on this one CD. So how should I name it? Thanks. --Arwen4CJ Talk 19:24, February 11, 2014 (UTC)

Hmm... sorry, but I'm not sure I've understood all the parts of your question - should confess I'm not very good at theology... :).
I may say only that usually I refrain from page creating at all, if any info about the real release by the real artist is unavailable. --Senvaikis (talk) 20:16, February 11, 2014 (UTC)
P.S. ...but seems to me you are talking about Wedding Celebration by Eddie DeGarmo and Bob Farrell on Kingnee - Musicbrainz Simply Incredible New Music Sampler (2003).
Sorry -- let me try to clarify.
1.) On my actual Simply Incredible New Music Sampler (2003) CD cover, it lists the artist name as being !Hero: The Rock Opera.
2.) When I opened up the booklet that came with the CD, it gave the above paragraph as a description for this track. (The part I put in quotes up there), which basically says that !Hero: The Rock Opera is the name of a specific album that several artists contributed to.
3.) So it seems that !Hero: The Rock Opera isn't the name of a band or group, but is the name of an album, and that there are 32 other tracks on this CD that are part of a "modern day" Gospel in song form.
4.) The information on the cover does include who sang the song on this particular track -- Tait, Grits, and Nirva.
So, my question has to do with what name should I use for the song page.
Should I go with:
1.)  !Hero: The Rock Opera:Wedding Celebration (Since this is what the cover actually uses, even though it is the name of an album) -- and then say that Tait, Grits, and Nirva are featured artists.
2.) Tait, Grits, And Nirva:Wedding Celebration (Since these are the actual performers)
3.) Something else?
The link you provided from music brainz is to the right album and track, but the "recording by" information is wrong. Eddie DeGarmo and Bob Farrell are the lyricist and composer for all the songs on the !Hero CD.
See :Kingnee - Musicbrainz !Hero: The Rock Opera --Arwen4CJ Talk 21:23, February 11, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for mb link, - I just have fixed it a little but do you really think I haven't seen it yet? ;).
Now about song page artist. Don't know any other info but mb & wp, and both claim ED&BF as artist for this recording. So, if you are asking my opinion, - I'd followed this info. But you are free to make your own decision, if it may be substantiated by some more reliable info. hth, --Senvaikis (talk) 21:49, February 11, 2014 (UTC)
After further research, it seems that this !Hero project was an actual opera music project with different Christian artists playing different parts in it. I have found a couple links [1] and [2]. From that, it looks like the artist of the Wedding Celebration song should be GRITS (as being performing artist), and Tait and Nirva should be featured artists. Eddie DeGarmo and Bob Farrell should be listed in the credits as writing the song. Does that sound all right?
I think the reason that Eddie DeGarmo and Bob Farrell are credited on music brainz and wikipedia for !Hero is because it was their idea, and they wrote the lyrics and composed the music to all of the songs in the !Hero performance. However, they had various Christian artists play different parts, thus those artists should be credited with performing the songs.
I'm only interested in the Wedding Celebration song, as I am not going to do the whole !Hero CD, as I don't have the lyrics to any of the other 32 songs. --Arwen4CJ Talk 01:02, February 12, 2014 (UTC)

But we definitelly should discuss all the details of this GNLF-matter in more details.

The logical thing to do would have been for whoever runs UserBot to disable it when the merge was agreed upon. A case of one hand not knowing what the other does? Let's hope it won't take too long. — 6×9 (Talk) 11:38, February 19, 2014 (UTC)

Laura Pausini's songs redirected

Hi Senvaikis! Great job on Laura Pausini's wiki page, only a few horphan song on Other Songs!!... congratulations!

I miss having there many of her duets, which are not on any of her albums, but on the partners' ones... Don't you think it would be nice to have those duets linked from Laura Pausini's page? I'd suggest to add them on the Other Songs section...

By the way, some things to do on that page.

"E' Non E'" must be a bonus track on "Io Canto" album; I saw that on amazon, I guess as a single, displaying "Io Canto" cover... "Como Tú Y Como Yo" is a duet with "Sin Bandera". Problably you want to move it to this band page. "Escribeme" should be redirected to "Escríbeme" (proper spelling), which belongs to "Escucha" album. I tried to do so, but I don't have permission, it seems. Other Songs' Medleys (number 9, 10 and 11) may belong to italian version of "Laura Live Gira Mundial 09 (2009)" album: "Laura Live World Tour 09".

Hope to be back soon for working on improving this page. Hope I can add back those duets... 22:43, February 19, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words, Cauac - a pleasure of cooperating with like-minded people is one of the most important benefits of lw community, imo :)
  • You are right - well-done artist page should contain links to all artist-related recordings (colaborations, featurings, appearances on soundtracks, VA compilations etc). Just one note: OS section isn't a best place for such list. To be precise this section should be titled(interpretted) as "Orphaned Songs", 'cause it should contain only songs, having no backlinks, or, in other words - not included in any album page. You should strive to make OS list as short as possible (it should be empty on ideal/gold artist page). So, I'd recommend to create a separate section for this list, with a title "Other Appearances", "Songs, featuring Laura Pausini" or something like that.
  • Yes, you need an admin permissions to rename(move) source page A to a target page B, if B is "occupied" already. But you may overcome this barrier: just open both A & B pages for editing, then copy/paste content from A to B, and make required changes if needed. Then save(publish) page B, replace page A content by text "#REDIRECT [[<Page-B-title>]]" and save it also.
  • And please, try to post your messages while being logged-in ;)
Good luck making Laura's page Gold, and happy editing - --Senvaikis (talk) 07:23, February 20, 2014 (UTC)

Great, Senvaikis, I'll start now, Can't wait to see those duets on her page, he he. The point with "Escribeme" is that I cannot edit it cause "Unfortunately, we are not licensed to display the full lyrics for this song at the moment…" This song appeared on "Other Songs", but proper spelled "Escríbeme" appears nice and well located on "Escucha" album. I'd like to erase that first one (OS), or redirected to "Escríbeme", or at least just erased it from OS… If you have idea of how to do it, please help me…

See you soon. Happy editing too!

Hello Senvaikis, could you please take a look at the song page? User HaterAdeRevenge added wrong song pages, which I redirect to that page. Discogs not working for Jennifer Knapp albums

I get an error message every time I try to check to see if the discogs links are correct for her albums. See, for example, The Way I Am. I visited the discogs website and looked her up there, and it works fine on the actual website. [3], so I know it isn't that disccogs is down, or that it is the wrong link.

I checked all of her other albums (that had discogs links), and I received the same error with all of them. I checked the link on her artist page, and that link works, so it is only the album pages.

I checked on another artist page to see if the albums links were working for discogs, and everything was fine. So I know it works for at least some artists. I don't know if it is limited to just Jennifer Knapp, or if there are other artists that are affected.

I also don't know if it is the fault of discogs or lyric wiki. --Arwen4CJ Talk 18:49, March 1, 2014 (UTC)

Links work for me on all her albums – I'd guess a temporary server problem at their end. — 6×9 (Talk) 21:04, March 1, 2014 (UTC)
For me it doesn't work too! :( --Ignor-the-ant (talk) 21:09, March 1, 2014 (UTC)
The same probs on my side too. I'm pretty sure that's definitelly not lw-bug. Don't know if you have noticed, but discogs still haven't reached its normal state after some recent changes on their site.
I think this issue is caused by unstable dogs internal redirects. As Arwen mentioned, actual dog page address is, while Lw page contains "reduced" link to Both addresses work identically if entered in browser address field, but due to some probs on dog-side sometimes this internal redirect from latter to the first fails, if readdressed from some external page (with "500 Internal server error" in my case). But if after such fail you try to place a marker into browser address field and press <Enter>, you'll surprisingly enter into desired (internal-redirect-target) dog-page...
I do want to believe that's only temporary discogs problem (...and as always - sorry for my English).
--Senvaikis (talk) 22:11, March 1, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, Senvaikis. That does help. It's good to know that it isn't a lw-bug, and it is good to know that I can still check whether the link works by pressing enter.  :) --Arwen4CJ Talk 23:55, March 1, 2014 (UTC)

Capital Letter Rules on Titles; Laura Pausini

You said "display part of the link to a page (part after pipe) should follow capitalisation rules of particular language". So, in titles:

  • First letter of the Title must be in capital.
  • Content words (words with meaning like subjects, verbs, some adjectives…) must go with capital letter.
  • Connecting words (conjunctions, articles, linking words…) must avoid capital letter, even more when they are short ones, two or three letters.
  • There are some exceptions, in expressions like when you say "Sea", in Spanish literally "The Sea": "El Mar", where the article should have capital letter.
  • Content words, even when they are short, must have Capitals, like Spanish "Peace": "Paz".
  • The same way, long connecting words should not have capitals even when they are long ones, like spanish "aunque", "como"…
  • Possessive adjectives genrally go with no capital letter; only sometimes when they generate meaning expressions like "Tu Corazón".

But you put only Spanish titles with just the beginning letter of it in capital… It's a mistake, as it is putting every single word of English titles with capitals… Remember they are titles, not paragraphs.

I'm really sorry for not writing before or as soon as I corrected them today, I had to leave home running; I'm doing it now as soon as I Could.

Please, let me edit it back to the way I know it's proper. As I told you at the beginning of our virtual meetings, I'm a translator and I know why I'm correcting them. Trust me when I tell you I'm trying to turn Laura Pausini's wiki into a gold page, properly done.

Once more: LW follows display part capitalization rules, defined on MB (IT, ES), and you was repeatedly informed about that. If you disagree, - please, discuss this question on our community portal, but for a while - try to refrain from futher rereverts of edits, made by other user, who was trying to help you, and don't ever try to involve anybody into edit wars, with childish attempts to mask your edits under anonymous account.
Actually I never was especially concerned about the capitalization of display part of titles - that's not critically important imo, though I like when LW page is formatted perfectly. And I really appreciated your efforts to make Laura's page perfect indeed. That's why I'm especially saddened that you still haven't understood, what my warning was about...
Nevertheless I'm still sure that's only a short misunderstanding, and we'll make a lot of perfect pages together in the future...
--Senvaikis (talk) 21:36, March 2, 2014 (UTC)
Please, don't think that my "anonymous" edits were bad intentional. It's just that sometimes I start editing without paying attention if I'm logged in, it happened once that I wrote to you and sign, not being logged, but you recognize me by my handwriting, I guess… (little joke, take it easy). It's so probable that the only ones who have been editing Laura Pausini's lately have been you and me.
You never talked to me about this page of style on Spanish(*). I'll checked it as soon as I have time. You only said what I just copied and pasted above… And I explained my reasons, according to what I know…
Let's talk next time, after having reading those documents. By now, I tell you I do think it looks better the way I corrected…

Certainly, you mention it, the problem wasn't able to understand what you meant by "MB" or "es:wp". Sorry for that. For me was plenty enough ""display part of the link to a page (part after pipe) should follow capitalisation rules of particular language". Take it easy, understand that I'm a native Spanish speaker…

By the way, I'm not sure what I did, but had problems when uploaded a "Laura Pausini (Spanish Version) (1994)" art, since this album came after original italian "Laura Pausini (1993)" album. Thus, Spanish one is the "Version" one. I needed to uploaded it twice, one for Album page, another for Laura Pausini's page. Hope you can help to organize if I made a mess, erase "Laura Pausini (italian version) art… Italian album works perfect.

"Grandes Exitos" moved to "Grandes Éxitos" again

You must recognize "Éxitos" is the proper spelling of the Spanish word, according toéxito. Notice if you look "exito" up in there, it show that that word does not appear on the dictionary, and it is the authority of the language.

Cauac (talk) 06:47, March 3, 2014 (UTC)

Page never wasn't moved to "Exitos", but link text indeed has been misrestored on error (as a result of edit conflict), and it definitelly should be "Éxitos" (there may be some other errors, also caused by the same edit conflict). --Senvaikis (talk) 07:16, March 3, 2014 (UTC)

Could you redirect misspelled "Escribeme" to "Escríbeme"

This Escribeme is misspelled and I could not redirect it to Escríbeme, so I could erase it from OS.

Thanks and that's all for now. See you some time in the future. Cauac (talk) 13:20, March 3, 2014 (UTC)

iTunes links not working?

I hope that this is a temporary problem, but it seems that none of the iTunes links in the external links section of the pages are working. Anyone know what is going on? The [4] site is working. But when I click on an external link from lw, I get nothing. --Arwen4CJ Talk 00:59, March 8, 2014 (UTC)

Not shure that's temporary, 'cause iT template hasn't been changed since 2010-12 - maybe some changes on Anyways, thanks for info - I'll try convey it to Sean. --Senvaikis (talk) 20:06, March 8, 2014 (UTC)
Dug through my emails... looks like they migrated to a new system. I'll try to figure out how to set that up.
-Sean Colombo (talk) 22:30, March 8, 2014 (UTC)
Looks like the proper link format (without any affiliate acct at the moment) is which seems do-able. {{SongFooter}} has the song name and the iTunes ID string (which already includes the id= part. An example link is this which I built off of Cake: one issue is that the us is the store country. I don't remember if we can just change that for other countries, or how that works.
-Sean Colombo (talk) 22:48, March 8, 2014 (UTC)
When the iTunes links were still working, I read on one of the help pages on lw how to do a song that isn't in the US store. You can see if you can get it to work in the new format for this Matt Redman song, which isn't available in the US store. Matt Redman:Deep Calls To Deep. I know this iTunes link worked before the change in format, as I entered it in and checked it not too long ago. --Arwen4CJ Talk 02:41, March 9, 2014 (UTC)
That's exactly the link that SF (via {{iTunes}}) provides – minus the /SONG/ bit, but it works without that as well:
So my guess is the problem lies with the part of the link. — 6×9 (Talk) 08:23, March 9, 2014 (UTC)
I want to make sure everyone is getting the same error as me with the iTunes link. I am getting the "The page cannot be displayed" message when I click on the iTunes link. I want to make sure we're talking about the same thing. So is everyone else getting this?
Because of what 6 times 9 suggested, I decided to google, and people have had problems with other sites in the past (years ago), and it could be related to an adblocker or something else......--Arwen4CJ Talk 11:51, March 9, 2014 (UTC)
All (artist/alb/song) iTunes links lead to address "http://localhost/error.html" with natural result "Unable to connect" on my side. --Senvaikis (talk) 12:29, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

@Sean, 6: sorry if my question appears to be silly, but would it be a big crime to modify {{ITunes}}, placing a direct link to into it (temporarry, while linksynergy's issue isn't solved)? --Senvaikis (talk) 18:48, March 9, 2014 (UTC)
Can't really answer that – though my guess is that the linksynergy thing generates a small amount of income for each click, whereas the direct link (with Wikia's partnerId) pays only if someone actually buys something. I've gone and stripped the links anyway; as long as they were broken Wikia wasn't making any money at all.
As an amusing sidenote, your "localhost" error make me check my hosts file, which indeed has a few entries for; had to comment them out to get the same error… — 6×9 (Talk) 19:38, March 9, 2014 (UTC)
I found a link that might have something to do with the issue -- the first paragraph suggests that apple announced a while ago that it was going to switch to something else, and that the other would stop working. "" Might this explain why they stopped working? (although the article suggests it should have stopped working in October, I know that it was working on lw until about March 3 or so). @Arwen: thx for the link! If I understand this correctly, we could have saved ourselves the hassle and the ugly double-encoded links by simply appending "&siteID=TAoP0MnvTJY" to the apple URL… which is now moot, anyway. According to this link, Sean (or whoever is responsible now) should have set up a new account last year… — 6×9 (Talk) 18:16, March 10, 2014 (UTC)
I'm just glad that the iTunes links are working again :) I trust that Sean (or he'll pass along the info to the right person at wikia). And, yeah, it does look like it was supposed to have been done last summer/fall. --Arwen4CJ Talk 18:41, March 10, 2014 (UTC)

YouTube video link in the SongFooter.

Hi ya,

On song page Blank & Jones:Desire I have embedded a video using the youtube embed template which does show the video on the song page but I am also getting the YouTube video link in the SongFooter message. In checking the song footer for that song there is no youtube = link in the song footer that I can see.

Am I blind or is this link hiding somewhere else.

Please advise. Thanks Senvaikis.

Katesbush999 (talk) 13:13, March 10, 2014 (UTC)

No, you aren't blind. Just {{SongFooter}} template automatically generates an external link to the same yt, used on {{Youtube embed}}, if is empty or ommited. But may be used to provide an external link to an alternative video, if being filled. Moreover, you may use separate templates {{Youtube}} to provide an alternative Yts with according comments, - see the same page (plz, remove redundant links later, - they are just demo for you).
--Senvaikis (talk) 14:02, March 10, 2014 (UTC)

Hi Senvaikis,

Thanks for your explanation & examples. I now understand. One thing that I am finding somewhat confusing on the LyricWiki pages is that changes have been made to the programming of LyricWiki but the Help pages are not keeping up with the changes/improvements being made.

Following Help:Contents/Editing/Formatting/Songs#Badges I can follow the {{youtube embed}} link which takes me to showing me how to embed a youtube video.

On this documentation page an example is given for a Bruno Mars song & also a comment stating "Produces something that looks like this." with a link to this page This screencast page shows a different style of video to what we have now & doesn't show the YouTube video link contained within the song footer. I found myself confused by this & I can safely say that new users would be even more confused than I am. I searched for the actual Bruno Mars song page on LyricWiki used in the example which is here

The actual Bruno Mars song page no longer reflects the Bruno Mars song page used as the example in the Help pages and I would suggest that this example page be updated to reflect todays conditions. This would be most helpful to new users.

I also acknowledge the NOTE: on the YouTube embed page which answers the query that I posed to your good self & would say that I may have understood this note if I had seen it within the example given.

Thanks Senvaikis.

Regards, Ritchie.

Edit Option Missing for Editing Song, Album, and Artist Talk Pages

I noticed a few minutes ago the options for editing song, album, and artist pages changed. The only options available are renaming, viewing the page history, and adding a new section. So, while we can still edit the pages, we can only do so if we start a new section. We cannot edit the current content.

This means that we can no longer edit the page ranking information -- including changing the star, marking things as being done or not applicable, we can no longer make ourselves watchers of pages, and we cannot certify pages.  :( --Arwen4CJ Talk 18:47, March 12, 2014 (UTC)

Never mind. Whatever the issue was, it's been fixed now.  :) --Arwen4CJ Talk 19:00, March 12, 2014 (UTC)

Removed romanized name of artist from albums tags

Why you deleted romanized part of cyrillic name in album artist tags on page Серебряная Свадьба?
I made this according to gude LyricWiki:Page Names
--Redlabrat (talk) 08:58, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
No, Redlabrat, you didn't. Take one more look at lw:pn to find this part in it:
  • "The Album and Song page names should use only the title written in the native script, with no romanized version of the title added. The romanized version and the translation of the title can be provided by adding the {{TransTitle}} template to the top of the page."
That wasn't a big crime, - many other users still make the same mistake, but I hope you agree that now page looks better (and closer to lw:pn). There's one more bonus of this approach - higher searchability of albums/songs.
Anyways, - thanks for your contribution to LW. Feel free to ask any other questions (why all this artist albumart images have been reuploaded, f.e.).
Happy editing, --Senvaikis (talk) 09:37, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
P.S. Hope the purpose of this revision will be self-evident for you :)
I think that sentence is just poorly worded; it only refers to the (album/song) title, not the whole pagename. At least the example provided directly above is clear enough.
That being said, is there a reason (other than inertia) for that whole "Artist (RomArtist)" thing? If it's just to make the romanized name visible, that can already be done in ah/sf/af. It just seems unnecessarily complicated, for no real benefit. — 6×9 (Talk) 10:42, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I agree that this style looks better, but still citation that you provide says that we should not provide romanized name for album title and song title, but not for artist name. And example showen there gives romanized part of artist name in declaration of album.
--Redlabrat (talk) 10:51, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
Strictly speaking Redlabrat's right. That's a thousandth place where our help should be definitelly corrected to reflect current lw editing/formating etc rules. But where's at least one native-English-speaking admin or user, ready for this job?
Btw, 6, - haven't you ever thought about sh.alias (if present) using as default albumartist value in {{Song}}?
--Senvaikis (talk) 11:23, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
I did, actually… Downside is it'll break links where alias is present but albumartist isn't. So the work you save on some pages you'll have to expend on others (where alias is used for prettifying LWPN'ed artist). Not sure which is the majority… — 6×9 (Talk) 11:47, March 19, 2014 (UTC)
@6: Well, leave alone {{Song}} for a while... I'd like better to talk about this your "clarification". Actually it still doesn't legitimise my approach (using native-scripted-artist-name for songs/albs). Should we understand this edition as the final expression of your opinion, i.e. - do you really insist on using romanized part of artist name in song/alb title?. Then I should spotlight some considerations, explaining why I'd not like to agree with current lw:pn edition:
  • Definitions. Our help docs should be more precise in definitions. Remarkable part of misunderstandings could be avoided by more strict/obvious definition and differentiation of such terms as the name and the pagetitle of artist/alb/song. This difference is more obvious for albs (due to year suffix) and song (artist preffix), but not so evident for artists. Let's take a term "artist" for example: ArtistHeader.artist and AlbumHeader.Artist, - both defined as artist name, while latter is the title of artist page. So, according to the definition of song pagenaming format "Artist:Song", result should be "Серебряная Свадьба:Декаданс", but lw:pn implicitly insists on format "Artist-page-title:Song", resulting in "Серебряная Свадьба:Декаданс"
  • Consistency Non-latin chars in artist name isn't the only one reason for possible mismatch betveen song performer or albumartist name and the title of artist page. Yes, let's talk about disambigued artists and artists, performing under mutiple aliases. As I know, you agree that in both cases songs and albums should use the alias for the pagename, confirming that by your editions on Angelique (US) or Aphex Twin. So, they shouldn't match "Artist-page-title:Song/Album" pattern. Why then Russian artists song page title can't use the same, "Artist-name:Song" pattern? Hope you agree that "Серебряная Свадьба" is just the pagetitle for artist "Серебряная Свадьба". So, at least for the sake of consistency this artist song should be titled "Серебряная Свадьба:Декаданс".
Seems was going to add something else, but... got tired :). Anyways, I wanna believe my arguments will be taken into account in future lw:pn improvement discussions (see below) :).
Cheers, --Senvaikis (talk) 14:20, March 19, 2014 (UTC)
I actually agree with you on all of these points. The purpose of my edit was to bring the help text in line with the provided example, and with the way non-latin artists have been handled for years – even by those admins and bureaucrats who supported the artist-prefix-must-match-what's-on-albumcover-even-if-different-from-artist-pagename rule all those years ago when we had that huge heated discussion.
The reason why I didn't simply make it consistent with the rules for latin-based artists is this: before we do that, which requires moving and updating of several thousand song pages, shouldn't we first decide whether or not we want to go "all the way", i.e. drop the romanization from artist pagenames as well? I don't know what its purpose is (or was), but it contradicts both LWPN-in-a-nutshell ("Artist [...] pages should be named as close as possible to the original name, with the first letter of each word capitalized [...]") and Kiefer's First Commandment (K.I.S.S.).
So, instead of having to deal with all that annoying "Серебряная Свадьба|alias=Серебряная Свадьба|albumartist=etc." stuff in sh, why not move the artist page to "Серебряная Свадьба" as well and make everything a whole lot simpler? — 6×9 (Talk) 19:37, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

List concerning LW policies

"But where's at least one native-English-speaking admin or user,". In case you have forgotten: Arwen (native English speaker) and I have offered our help with things like this. If someone started setting up a list with topics to be edited/set up/clarified, and announce this list to us, it would be one first step. Preferably, the list comes with links to respective posts/discussions, and the referring LW Policy article .  · Lichtweber talk service  12:23, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

Although I am not an admin, Lichtweber is right. We have offered our help. I am a native English speaker, and I am willing to look over the wording of any proposed changes someone wants to make in the documents. If someone wants to make a list of changes that need to be made -- and what they want the documents to convey, I can write it up, and it can be discussed on the Proposal For Root Pages Policy page. --Arwen4CJ Talk 12:57, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
If the admins agree on setting up a list dealing with policy matters, I suggest a strictly formalized procedure, similiar to LW:JE.  · Lichtweber talk service  13:40, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
Great idea.  :) That way everyone could suggest changes. --Arwen4CJ Talk 16:26, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
(edit conflict) No, Lichtweber, I haven't forgotten :). How could I, - being largely guilty for your sad experience with Root Pages Policy proposal? That's why I'm glad to hear that you and Arwen are still ready to help improving LW. Moreover now there's no need anymore in cautious hints about possible disappointments...;).
Speaking about the possible protocol for this job, I'd like better Lichtweber's suggestion, since different proposals may require a separate space for discussions. --Senvaikis (talk) 16:51, March 18, 2014 (UTC)
I haven't forgotten your offer for help either. Trouble is, there is no list of help pages that are outdated, or that contradict template documentation or other help pages, or I'd have started work on it long ago. These things only come to our attention when some kind user notices and points them out to us, as happened above or here.
RE: procedure for discussing policy matters – so far, discussing the matter on the policy talk page or on the CP has worked pretty well. A big case like root pages that requires its own subpage(s) is so rare that I doubt we need to codify it. — 6×9 (Talk) 11:59, March 19, 2014 (UTC)
I suggest combing through the help pages to see what needs updating. Maybe we could look at a section of one of the help pages at a time so that the task doesn't appear so overwhelming.
I like Lichtweber's suggestion, but if you'd rather just make note of the changes on the document talk pages, I propose this suggestion:
I'll make a list of the pages (and sections) in my sandbox here, and I will follow each documentation page so that I know if someone edits a Talk Page. Let me know if anything needs to be changed in the section, and if it does, what it needs to say. I will write it or reword it on the document Talk Page, and then someone can update the documentation. Then visit my sandbox page and mark that section as being done. --Arwen4CJ Talk 13:07, March 27, 2014 (UTC)

About the deleted pages concerning the pillows

I am writing this contents concerning The Pillows.

You deleted the following pages.

You wrote the deleted reason to be “redundant single (songs are available on studio albums)”.

If according to this reason the deleted pages were chosen, your decision was arbitrary.

I insist that you should also delete the following pages because these pages as well as the above-mentioned pages are contained songs in this albums “LOSTMAN GO TO YESTERDAY (2007)”.

I am writing this text using translation software because I am a Japanese speaker. Please excuse me for mistake by translation into English.

Thank you. --Nghrtd (talk) 02:10, March 22, 2014 (UTC)

No, Nghrtd, my decision wasn't completely arbitrary, and you'd find one essential particularity if being more observant - all mentioned deleted pages were a members of Category:Albums missing cover art, one of multiple categories, monitored by my bot Lwt. So, other singles haven't been deleted for a very simple reason - contrary to The Pillows:ガールフレンド (1995), they contained an existing album art image, thus just didn't fall into Lwt monitoring scope. But you are absolutely right, defining them as redundant also. Just for a future I'd like to ask you mark such pages for {{deletion}} instead of posting a long list on my talk page.
Cheers, --Senvaikis (talk) 11:41, March 22, 2014 (UTC)
I understand reason to seem that you choose these pages as arbitrary. I am glad that you are fair because you do not only notice same condition for listed pages. I mark {{deletion}} on each pages.
In addition, I explain the reason posting a list on your talk page, without marking {{deletion}} on these listed pages. To put it simply, I would like that you take fair treatment rather than I would like to delete these listed pages.
Thank you. --Nghrtd (talk) 15:12, March 22, 2014 (UTC)
While being slightly confused in choice between your "insist on deleting" and "hardly would like to delete" I chose deleting though, as matching both LW policy and my own opinion. One interesting multilayer (polysemantic) coincidence: just atm was watching Coppola's "Lost in translation"... :)
Hope you understand - that's just physically impossible for one admin to make a complete treatment of all the pages, - that's why a collaborative nature of LW remains the main source of its beauty and power.
Thanks for your collaboration, and happy editing, --Senvaikis (talk) 16:34, March 22, 2014 (UTC)
