Ôdjus Fitxadu and One Love

The Idan Raichel Project:Ôdjus Fitxadu and Sara Tavares:One Love aren't actually Portuguese, but a Portuguese based Creole spoken in Cape Verde. I had a feeling we didn't have categories for this language (which is called Cape Verdean Creole or Kabuverdianu) which is why I left those parameters blank. Just thought I'd let you know so you can decide what to do about that :D Jockstain 17:31, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

DoneGreen Done. How about Cesária Évora then? Shouldn't we attribute all her songs to Cape Verdean Creole? --Senvaikis (talk) 18:12, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
I can't tell for sure looking at just the song titles, but for instance Cesária Évora:Esperança Irisada is definitely Creole. I know Sara Tavares sings in Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole and English by turns, so it wouldn't surprise me if Cesária Évora did songs in Cape Verdean, Portuguese and French. I guess it'll take someone looking song-by-song... Jockstain 23:39, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

Artists, categorized to Artist, but not appearing in this cat

All these artists should be retouched to appear in Artist category.
So, Tom Jones page states that this artist belongs to c:A, but api says opposite. Category browsing gives the same negative answer.
But why have they dissapeared/(have not appeared)? Some of them may lack ArtistFooter, as 'pseudo-artist' 6 Times 9 or artist Action Spectacular. But most of them (at least, those I've checked) are 'footed' and stated as a members of c:A.
Not sure, but seems that Artist is melting the same way as SNLI does.
That's why I'm not touching them for a while...
--Senvaikis (talk) 09:12, October 14, 2010 (UTC)
Touching this list, shrinking it to footless artists only.--Senvaikis (talk) 05:29, October 15, 2010 (UTC)
DoneGreen Done, >200 artists -> c:A; 'footed' remaining.
Current situation: 1 + 37963 + 2338 + 30 + 30 = 40361 Artist + 1 Wizard.
--Senvaikis (talk) 08:01, October 15, 2010 (UTC)
Could you touch the Category:Song Template on Translation Page please? I wanted to touch the pages with my bot "Botanic", but touching with the pywikipedia bot framework requires the Special:Export, which is disabled for LyricWiki Sigh. - Chris 14:32, October 20, 2010 (UTC)
DoneGreen, 1540->17 (all 17 - hook-aborted songs of C:Real). The same list of unfixed remains is still waiting for some Wizard trick. --Senvaikis (talk) 18:36, October 20, 2010 (UTC)
They do not need a wizard, I do as well Tongue. Most of them include an invisible soft hyphen behind an accent which is the reason for the failure. I will check them. - Chris 22:06, October 20, 2010 (UTC)
I did some of them, and it looks like this would do. I don't know what is about C:Real, though, but I know that User:KyleH was watching that page, and he tended to only watch content pages that make any trouble. Maybe C: is an interwiki link? But what Wiki to (furthermore, I thought we'd disabled all of them but "wikia:")? - Chris 00:13, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

Incubator

All Incubator songs now are unavailable, after touching (opening & saving) them via api. Seems that Incubator now is reserved word for inter-wiki: any attempt to create a new song page for this artists leads to an error message:
"The requested page title was invalid, empty, or an incorrectly linked inter-language or inter-wiki title. It may contain one or more characters which cannot be used in titles."
Have no clue how to restore corrupted pages of this artist. Any thoughts?--Senvaikis (talk) 10:24, October 18, 2010 (UTC)
Batchmoving to "Incubator (Artist)" (appears to work in preview). Or pestering Sean to un-interwiki it. Or maybe just batchmove all artists to "* (Artist)" preemptively because I have a feeling this won't be the last time something like that happens without warning (see W). — 6×9 (Talk) 16:29, October 18, 2010 (UTC)
Have you a feeling that you are an Admin of this site, 6? I haven't. --Senvaikis (talk) 17:18, October 18, 2010 (UTC)
"User with a few special powers" would be more appropriate. Maybe we should join the Wikia staff… then we could overturn the System from within!!! Or maybe not.6×9 (Talk) 17:36, October 18, 2010 (UTC)
Beep beep *Interfering* Or we realise LW:CtS (rejoice, Senv Wink); as a matter of fact, the colon is somewhat like a reserved character in Wikis as separator for Interwikis and Namespaces, and slash is not. For other advantages, see CtS. - Chris 13:54, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

Work for LWC or LWT

Whoever gets there first :-) I've changed the page ranking info templates (per this "discussion") from all four ({{Artist Info}}, {{Album Info}}, {{Film Info}}, {{Song Info}}) by removing fLetter and artist parameters, as well as song, album and film parameters from their respective templates. I've also added allmusic parameters to Artist and Album Info (long overdue, I think), which now of course turn up as "unknown". Would be great if one of you could go through each template's WLH, remove the dead params and (if possible) fill in allmusic (or else just add it as a blank line). Thanks! — 6×9 (Talk) 09:06, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

That's a good thought, 6.
But before starting any updates (and after recent remarkable replenishing of Category:Discogs/Artist ) I just wanted to ask you - why discogs still isn't included into {{Artist Info}} and {{Album Info}}? --Senvaikis (talk) 09:34, October 24, 2010 (UTC)
That's a very good question. The only reason I can think of is that I haven't had enough coffee yet. Anyway, they're added now. Thanks for the reminder! — 6×9 (Talk) 09:46, October 24, 2010 (UTC)
Your are quick! - thanks :)--Senvaikis (talk) 09:51, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

DoneGreen, see details. --Senvaikis (talk) 08:59, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

Not sure where to put this, but here seemed a good place. FoxyTunes Planet is no more, has merged with YahooMusic. Letting you know as the former is, at least, in the {{ArtistFooter}} template, or at least in the automatic footer links In the event I should not write here, don't spank to hard! Oliver vs. Oliver!

I am trying to separate Oliver (the singer) entries from Oliver! (the musical/movie). When I created the album entry for Oliver!(the musical/movie), Lyric-wiki put "iver" instead of 1968 in the release date under the album picture. I followed the soundtrack setup template, but I don't know where to go to correct the incorrect release date. Read'em&weep 07:30, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

DoneGreen Done.
According to LW pagenaming policy, all album pages should be named as follows: Artist:Album (release). Your problems were caused by missing mandatory part of release year in the album title. Other changes I've made should be self-explained, I hope, but feel free to ask any questions, if some details are still not evident for you. Btw, most answers to all your possible questions may be found in LW docs, so - read'em, don't weep! ;)

P.S. And please, sign your messages by placing 4 tildes (~~~~) at their end. This time I've done tht for you.

First of all, thank you for your for your quick answer and help. I am still learning, but I'm getting better at adding entries the right way. I have one other question for you ( I didn't find a good answer in the LW docs) - how should I create an entry if an album or song has multiple artists that have equal billing? An example of this would be the latest CD from Elton John and Leon Russell, "The Union". Should I give one of the artists the credit and list the other artist(s) as featured? Or do I create a song/album credit entry like "Elton John & Leon Russell"? Read'em And Weep 15:23, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Let's start from one of the most general LW:PN requirements: keep album page title as close to the title on the origin album cover as possible. Hope you've seen this album, titled "ELTON JOHN/LEON RUSSEL/THE UNION". So, one thing now is evident - that's not EJ's album. And not LR's one. That's a collaboration of EJ & LR. If number of such 'equal-billing' artists is limited (2-3 as a rule), then creating a sepparate page for such collaboration, using {{Collaboration}} template, is likely the best solution. Now we should solve the last problem - how this collaboration should be titled. "EL/LR" wouldn't be the best solution for technical reasons - slash character has a special meaning in wiki, usually separating subpages. So, remains "EL & LR" or "EL And LR". The most common solution in such case would be a choice of the most common, neutral variant according to normative dictionary, e.g. "EL And LR". Exeption could be done, if another variant was traditionally more known as the title of this collaboration.
Ok, let's look at our main info sources:
  • wp: "EL and LR"
  • mb: "EL & LR"
  • dog: "EL and LR"
  • amz: "EL, LR"
So, the choice is evident. Now, keeping in mind the requirement for release date, mentioned above, we can construct the title for this album: Elton John And Leon Russell:The Union (2010). Oops - the link is blue! That mean that someone have solved already our problem, creating exactly the same page :). Truth to tell, initially this link was red due to the one of most common pagenaming errors ("and" instead "And"). That was me who moved this page to make our link blue, e.g. - conform LW:PN ;) Btw, that wasn't the last error here, but I intenionally haven't touched nothing else to give you a chance to train yourself :) Good luck, --Senvaikis (talk) 17:10, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Again, thank you for being patient with me as I learn to do it the right way. Read'em And Weep 03:25, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Need Help On An Album Page Edit

I was editing the page "Bananarama:The Very Best Of Bananarama (2001)" by updating the album information by adding "|Artist = Bananarama |Album = The Very Best Of Bananarama |fLetter = T |Released = 2001 |Genre = New Wave |Length = 78:17 |Cover = Bananarama - The Very Best Of Bananarama.jpg |Wikipedia = The_Very_Best_of_Bananarama |star = Green" to the album template.

When I preview the page, I get an error where the album picture is supposed to go. I am thinking that it has something to do with the album title and lyric wiki's spam filters. Any help or direction you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

That was my fault – I made a stupid mistake with a template. It should be fixed now. — 6×9 (Talk) 21:22, November 20, 2010 (UTC)
hey, 6, - still something's wrong with spam filter - it doesn't like "Very Best". Was unsuccessfully trying to add {{Album Art}} to Bananarama:The Very Best Of Bananarama (2001). --Senvaikis (talk) 21:47, November 20, 2010 (UTC)
Odd; I could edit the page without problem. The only problem I saw was a broken upload link. Which image are you trying to add? — 6×9 (Talk) 21:58, November 20, 2010 (UTC)
Just try to add {{Album Art}} to mentioned album on Bananarama page. --Senvaikis (talk) 22:10, November 20, 2010 (UTC)
Ah, now I get it. Yep, spam filter. It was triggered by the edit summary, not the content. — 6×9 (Talk) 22:23, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, SmokinTom, - you are welcome, though truth to tell I don't even know what errors you are talking about. Anyway, I hope you'll fix my errors too, - sometimes I'm making a lot of them ;).

Btw, about errors. I saw you're editing Boris Novković page. That's not a criminal error, but LW editing policy doesn't tolerate ALL INICAPS in songs titles, except some special cases. So, try to avoid using all inicaps in page titles, e.g- follow pagenaming rules, described in LW:PN. And feel free to ask me or any admin if you have some questions. Happy editing, --Senvaikis (talk) 18:27, November 22, 2010 (UTC) P.S. (Use sequence of 4 ~ (~~~~) for automatical signing your messages with timestamp; this time I signed it for you.)

Image Missing

Hi, just saw u got huge reputation here on wikia, so I decided to tell you this, on Fightstar band page there's an Album without a picture, "One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours (2007)", File:3477525m.jpg : 12:13, April 3, 2010 6 times 9 (Talk | contribs) deleted "File:3477525m.jpg" ‎ (bad filename, no template), can you please check it, thanks. Matt~--Nightmare.night 14:42, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Matt.
Here're some remarks (quotes from LW Help) to prove that our Wizard wasn't too strict deletting this image:
  • image file name should fit mask "Artist - Album.(jpg/jpeg/gif/png)" (not mandatory, but highly recommended)
  • the {{albumcover}} template should be used in the Summary field (mandatory)
  • image source should be provided in {{albumcover}} source parameter (not mandatory, but highly recommended)
  • the image should not be any bigger than 500x500 px² and preferably less than 153600 bytes (mandatory)
Mentioned image broke all recommendations but the last, but instead of being oversized, it's resolution was too low to be at least satisfactory.
Moreover - if you were more observant, you'd noticed that mentioned album wasn't imageless. So, all I've done to "fix" your problem was to change a link to the cover image on artist page, - no need to say, - you shouldn't be an admin to do that yourself ;)
hth, --Senvaikis (talk) 16:05, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
Just noticed I couldn't see the album cover, so wanted to tell someone, I don't know how to, so I didn't edit, also I noticed "Papa Roach" . Time for Annihilation is missing a page?, I'm sorry if you're too busy and don't have time or something, but I just want to help out at least letting you guys of wikia know about these "little issues", I don't feel myself as editor yet. Thanks for your notes, Matt, - they are always welcomed. Noone of us started from 'master level' here, so feel free to ask any questions, and I assure all admins or any user, proficient in LW-editing, will be glad to help you. For a while - two pieces of advice 'for start': no need to start a new thread (section) in a talk page, if you are just replying to previous post (that's why I removed last section, opened by you, moving it's content back, into this section). And use four "~" for signing your messages. Happy editing, --Senvaikis (talk) 17:56, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Possible Vandal

Senvaikis:

I have recently reverted most of the edits by a user named Duke Stachington on You'll Rebel To Anything (As Long As It's Not Challenging). S/he seems to be vandalizing all of the songs by Mindless Self Indulgence by deleting a good chunk of the valid lyrics with each edit. Is there a way to inhibit this user from making edits? Is there a bulk undo feature that can aid in reverting the songs back to their correct state? Also, I was unable to undo the 07:48, November 6, 2010 edit by Duke Stachington for the song Prom. It gives me a "The edit could not be undone due to conflicting intermediate edits." error. I do not know how to correct this error with my fledgling wiki skills. Thank you.

Concerning my edits to the SNLI category

Hello, Senvaikis. I understand now and agree that what I was doing on the SNLI category was bad technique. I figured that all songs had to have the language parameter filled in as soon as possible, and that something was better than nothing, but since that is not the case, I shall now not edit the songs whose languages I am not completely sure of. Just to clarify some things:

  • A lot of songs, like Sophie Milman:Eli, Eli (A Walk To Caesarea), have only transliterated lyrics, not what the original script is, and that makes it harder to identify their languages (I'm sure you already knew that, of course). Even when searching through Google with the artist names, songs' titles, and the word "language," there aren't many websites/forums/etc. that say what the languages are. So with this song, I wasn't completely certain, but it looked a little like transliterated Russian to me, and I wanted to put something in, so I put Russian. Now looking at it, it's quite obviously not Russian (for despite not knowing the language, I do know what Russian looks like transliterated).
  • With that, I apologize for rereverting the page. I honestly didn't even realize that I had already edited it, and I did not check the page history, either. I'm sorry if I did that with any other songs, as well.
  • And it never occured to me to use or check the talk pages, as well. My eyes were always focused on the lyrics, rather than the pages' upper right corners.
  • For Kelly Sweet:Now We Are Free, after reading a comment on YouTube about the song, I discovered that it was a made-up language, but I didn't know that LyricWiki had an "Artificial" language category, so I just put "English" instead. Previously, for a few other songs, I put "Fictional" as their language, but then I changed that to something else, since the category doesn't exist.

So, I will go through my contributions to revert what's incorrect. I also want to say thank you for helping me realize that I should remember the talk pages/page histories, and for giving me the knowledge that there is a category for fictional languages. :) And for extra clarification, I actually wasn't always sure of the language even when I put Language added, so I'll just recheck everything. WonderKNIGHT 02:21, December 16, 2010 (UTC)

Hello again, Senvaikis.
Yes, I was only trying to help, and now that I've seen the fault of my technique, I'll be able to help even more. :) I do understand that I did not have to remove my conversation text with XxTimberlakexx, but I think it was for the best, anyway. You see, I had previously mentioned to him a while back that we should start talking through the private message system on YouTube, since this is a public talk page that anyone can see, and our conversations got very personal at times, disclosing secrets about ourselves that we've told no one else. However, after reading your message, it occurred to me that perhaps more people are reading/following our conversations than we thought. He has agreed with me that he feels safer now talking through YouTube's message system, so it's okay with him. And now, we won't have to worry about people seeing our exchanges. You don't have to apologize, because like I said, it was for the best. :)
I will give my friend your regards! :) WonderKNIGHT 22:42, December 17, 2010 (UTC)

Shakespear's Sister: Birth Place/history etc.

Hi Senviakis,

Here's a website you might be inerested in. www.theagencygroup.com/artist.aspx?ArtistID=5827

It gives the whole life history of Shakespear's Sister (including her birth name and also which country she was born. I don't want to alter anything on her page (hence: The Edwin Hawkins Singers) without your permission. 2 tracks I especially like on her "Harmonally Yours" Album "Stay" and "Hello (Turn Your Radion On)"

Hi Senviakis,
Sorry me again!
Thanks for your reply. Did you get my previous message about Artist - The Edwin Hawkins Singers? I looked on your talk page, but couldn't find message anywhere. If you haven't, is there any way of getting a copy of what I typed to you on them? and re-sending it to you? Sorry to be a bother.

Moreover - he made you a Christmass present in form of Mahalia Jackson:Lord, Don't Move The Mountain in hope you'll correct the lyrics for all the rest performers (notice a list of artists, who've covered this song) :). Stop deleting

Hey Senv, sorry for this, but please stop deletion of pages asap. Will explain later! - Chris 19:43, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, now that you have the message quickest possible, please look at what you are deleting. It looks like you are deleting the songs in Category:Restorable Pages Needing Attention. But they should rather remain because these are the songs that we can focus on, because we really know we may have their lyrics. But as I see, Sean already explained it better in the section below, right after I asked him why the number of song was going down. Sorry again for appearance of being "rude" in the first post, but I wanted to drop the message as quick as possible. - Chris 19:50, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

I'm also sorry you haven't noticed that. --Senvaikis (talk) 20:40, December 20, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, no I haven't. - Chris 18:41, December 21, 2010 (UTC)

Gn_restore

Hey Senv :)
I noticed that you're deleting a ton of pages that have {{gn_restore}} on them. Even though some of these never had lyrics, I think they were good placeholder pages since they show us songs which we don't have in the main namespace and which should be easy to find since there is a Gracenote version of the same song (so we know the lyrics are easily available in general).
If possible, instead of deleting the pages, I think we should run through and fill them with lyrics... that way we won't just have the uneditable Gracenote versions.
Seem like a reasonable idea? :)
-Sean Colombo 19:46, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

...Was reasonable... - sorry, but process of deletion has been finished just before your message appearing :). What'd you say if I made a special page, listing the titles of all pages, deleted with the summary "no lyrics (after gn-takedown)"? --Senvaikis (talk) 19:55, December 20, 2010 (UTC)
Shweet, as long as we have that list it should be easy to get them all restored. :)
Thanks,

Bébé Lilly:Głupotki

Thanks for adding the language tag, I noticed the request and when I got back to it after it was done already. I intend to do a French-Polish rough translation into English, but if you speak Polish it would be easier for you. I also just added the Youtube link, so you know in case you didn't know it was out there. Cheers.GabrielVelasquez 17:04, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for info, Gabriel, but most my (or Lwt's) editions to language tag are based on Google translator, not my language knowledge; (notice "Gc:48%" in summary, meaning the Google language recognition Confidence). Regarding Polish - yes, I do know (recognize) this language (Poland is a neighbour of Lithuania), but this knowledge is far from being good enough for sterling translation.
Happy editing & NY, - --Senvaikis (talk) 19:33, December 26, 2010 (UTC)
