Please have a look at LW:PN. Thanks! (tee hee) — 6×9 (Talk) 20:28, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

6, you're saddening me! Startling pettiness - that's your gratitude for ~6*105 lwt's edits/touches, returning songs into categories, emptied by your SF? Are you making all your editions at a stroke? We'll check that ;) I'm irate. I'm going to bed. --Senvaikis (talk) 20:53, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Damn! Just when I was thinking about the next SF edit, which would have required LWT editing all pages again… *ducks and runs* — 6×9 (Talk) 21:30, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

6 didn't mean anything by it Senv, he was just having a joke. He's just not very good at it sometimes ;)  Яєdxx Actions Words 00:36, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
I think Senv knew that, hence the ";)". (At least I hope so. If not, let me know and I'll do lots of grovelling and apologising.) And it's not that my jokes aren't good – it's just that Red doesn't get them most of the time ;-)6×9 (Talk) 00:55, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Lol, you're right again, 6 - that's not the first time when this admin usurps our rights of Joke Recognition & Joke Rating, demonstrating at the same time surprising incapability to recognize some virile jokes :). That doesn't mean our jokes were very good though ;) --Senvaikis (talk) 05:58, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Phew...I thought for a minute there...
Well it seems the joke's on me and I'm pleased to say that I am extremely glad it is :-) I just didn't like thinking that you was both upset. But you knew that anyways
HAPPY editing!  Яєdxx Actions Words 13:00, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Vacation!

3 lwt-free weeks!
Happy editing, --Senvaikis (talk) 12:05, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh no!!! Three whole weeks? What are we going to do? It's the end of LyricWiki!
Seriously though, hope you have a nice and relaxing vacation. We'll miss you! — 6×9 (Talk) 14:34, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Snoopy1
I'll second that.

Have a great time Senv!

Lithuania Millennium!

A few minutes later all Lithuanians over the world will be singing Lithuania Anthem! Join us!--Senvaikis (talk) 17:56, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

I did sing with you Senv, in celebration of Mindaugas Coronation Day, but I can't swear that I pronounced the words right ;) I hope you had a good time though!  Яєdxx Actions Words 00:35, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Some .lrc files

(Don't interrupt your vacation for this; I'm just posting it now so I won't forget it later…) File:先走為敬.lrc, File:喜欢你-beyond.lrc and File:Brigitte Bardot - Moi je joue.lrc – can these be uploaded to lrcdb.org and deleted? — 6×9 (Talk) 04:10, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

DoneGreen (lrcDB: 1, 2, 3). --Senvaikis (talk) 18:36, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Obsolescent {{MusicBrainzRelease}}

MBR may be deleted now imo (see MBR WLH - it doesn't contain any albums anymore).--Senvaikis (talk) 18:26, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Yep, no reason to keep it. So what are you waiting for? :-) — 6×9 (Talk) 19:34, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Just thought 't'd be better if template was deleted by one of those who've worked on it - Firehawk, King or you at least :)--Senvaikis (talk) 19:53, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Considerate to the last! Nah..don't do it 6..let Senv press the button! Commiserations on API btw Senv, I know you must be very disappointed.  Яєdxx Actions Words 00:24, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Wall Pigs

Considering BS were a British band, and the additional titles were only used on the US release*, not on the UK one, shouldn't it be just plain "War Pigs" and "Fairies Wear Boots" instead?
(*) Something to do with royalties IIRC – in the US they depended on the number of tracks, or something like that. — 6×9 (Talk) 15:00, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

  1. Agree absolutelly
  2. Shame on me, but may I ask you to make this part more clear to me?
--Senvaikis (talk) 15:11, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
In the US, the amount of money the artists got for each record that was sold depended on the number of songs on said record. In the late 60s/early 70s, when songs got longer and therefore less in number, this became a problem. One solution was to give titles to various sections of a song. (King Crimson used the same trick on their first three albums, though world-wide.) I guess ten was some sort of "magical" number, because the first two BS albums and the first KC albums all added as many subsections as were necessary to bring the count to ten. — 6×9 (Talk) 17:20, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
gotcha now, thx :) --Senvaikis (talk) 17:38, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Reverting redir directions for just two songs (and removing dblredirs for all their ghosts & covers) took ~40 edits for me, and I'm still not sure that I've done. You are bad bad boy, giving me such job, knowing how I hate that. Btw, (after Api funeral) - don't you have any good news about Semantics from Big Man? --Senvaikis (talk) 18:21, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
If I were a bad bad boy I'd remind you that the same needs to be done for the first album, but I'm not, so I won't :-) I just asked Sean whatever happened to the Semantic test that he'd announced some time ago. Let's keep our fingers crossed… — 6×9 (Talk) 12:00, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
[1] No Semantic in the foreseeable future :-( — 6×9 (Talk) 04:44, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thankyousign smilie for the help. - Chris 18:29, 7 August 2009 (UTC) ^_^

Always glad to find some easy job for lwt ;). But this time initially simple task suddenly turned out to be more complicated (you surely know what I mean) - that's why count of messy edits/reverts was so big. And I'm almost sure some mistakes like this still may be found...Cheers, --Senvaikis (talk) 19:05, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't think so, I guess if there were any pages like this remaining until now, they'd be listed in Cat:Awcbecp. I suppose these errors occured when Botanic and Lwt were trying to edit the same page at the same time, because Botanic also displayed such HTML-Code which made me aborting the task as fast as I could. When 6 gave me the hint to look at your program's contribs I didn't bother starting Botanic again. - Chris 02:02, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Santana and Set Theory

Let's start from set theory ABCs: if set A is a part of set B, then all elements of set A may be attributed (in LW terms - redirected) to set B, but not all elements of B are elements of set A. Why I'm speaking here about such truism? I'll try to explain. LW uses redirect Carlos Santana -> band Santana. On the surface all seems correct - Carlos is a member of band Santana, but not all members of band are Carlos Santana. But wait - it would be correct if our site objects were musicians. But no - our main object is a song. Now look into these sets again: which is the part of the other? Band Santana haven't performed any single song without Carlos, but Carlos has had a lot of projects outside the band. So in this point of view the set of records by Santana band is subset of Carlos Santana records, so imo redirection should be Santana -> Carlos Santana.

I've followed this logic, creating page for Robert Cray (using redirection Robert Cray Band -> Robert Cray). So one of these two redirects should be turned by 180o. Which? What do you think about that? And... please, Redxx, don't tell us that RC & RCB should be 'divorced' - placed on separate pages ;) Senvaikis (talk) 22:56, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Ok I won't Senv. All I will say is that if an album or song has been released by a band, then the band name is what needs to be entered in the artist portion of the pagename. If it has been released not by a band but by a solo artist, then the solo artist is what needs to be entered in the artist portion of the pagename. It is not a question of choice, but of fact.  Яєdxx Actions Words 04:17, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm not questioning pagenaming of the album page, Red, though in RC case even this question isn't clear :).
Ok, to be more clear, I'll illustrate situation by example. Santana artist page contains albums recorded by both band and Carlos (solo). So, some of albums & songs must have "Santana" as artist part of pageName, some - "Carlos Santana" (right, Red?).
(With you so far Senv) (Red replica)
Now, keeping in mind that current redir is Carlos Santana->Santana, imagine that someone is looking for album or song, recorded solo by Carlos. His search for song Santana:Trane will fail until individual song redirect exist, because song is on the album Carlos Santana:Blues For Salvador (1987) and titled Carlos Santana:Trane .
No sorry Senv, I can't get beyond "...will fail". I'd find it ;) Or, to put it another way and I don't ever have much success searching on here so I'm probably not doing it right (lol, surely it's a matter of how you search? (Red replica)
What I wanted to say, is that such search wouldn't require additional individual redir for albums/songs, if artist redir direction was "Santana -> Carlos Santana" and the artist page was "Carlos Santana". (still with me, Red?)
So, repeating the question for those who didn't catch it: which redir direction should be reversed: band->artist or artist->band? tia, --Senvaikis (talk) 07:51, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
I didn't assert that you'll not find this song, Red :). What I assert is that some ordinary users or API searches may fail. And even if you absolutely don't care about them (don't you think it would be strange for admin?), I'm just curious why you still haven't answered the final question - which redir direction is more logical? cheers, --Senvaikis (talk) 10:14, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
I've been wondering whether there isn't a better method of solving this anyway – something that doesn't rely on redirects, because you don't always have these (e.g. NY vs. NY&CH). Let's call it an Artist Alias. You define "Neil Young" as an Alias for "Neil Young & Crazy Horse", and if the API couldn't find "NY:Song" it would look at "NY&CH:Song" instead (& vice versa), while we could still keep both artist pages. I just don't know if that's possible at all… (Are you reading this, Sean?) — 6×9 (Talk) 11:26, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

excuse my ignorance... what API?— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.179.86.42 (talk), 07:31, 10 August 2009.

The same old & recently essentially restricted, but still possible to be used to find a song in LW. So, here (special for you) are two examples of it's using: this works; this fails.
(Sign your posts and close html tags, if you like to use them.) --Senvaikis (talk) 06:56, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
You know I have also been thinking along the same lines as 6 for a while now too. Something like a permanent alias. For it sure seems such a waste to me to not retain this information... By which I mean when an alias parameter is added, be it on a song or an album page (or wherever else they may lurk), this creates a direct connection between two names. But what if adding an alias put these names into a category and if this category was then automajically referred to by the API (or whatever) when the search term is not found?
Sounds simple enough to me. I'm sure with all our talents someone could figure out a way of implementing this. As long as it's not Fuchsia I won't mind ;)  Яєdxx Actions Words 10:11, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

While waiting for page loading...

Hi all again.

Had two nice vacation weeks with swimming, fishing, and minimum LW. @Red,6&Chris:Yes, I'm on vacation again, but this time I didn't repeat previous mistake anouncing about that, avoiding your thrilling concern :).
Only one thing slightly darkened my happy days - extremely slow mobile connection in my grange near the lake. So, wondering why my Lwt's working so slow I decided to make a little research - what part of page loading time falls on page itself and what - on all beauties like skins, banners, ads etc. Fiddler2 was used as proxy, monitoring the same page (6.83 KB) loading on 3 browsers - FF3.5.2, IE8 and Chrome2.
Results of investigation are cruel: usefull info takes from 5 to 20% of loading time (see timecharts for IE, FF & Chrome). Hope you understand that relatively good result for FF wouldn't be possible without AddBlocker...

log in

strange, but i'm not able to log in with my old account

is there something i should know? Wyverex2 16:51, September 1, 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, but current situation is absolutelly mysterious for me too. All I can suggest try to contact with other our admin/bureaucrat User:Kiefer; seems he has the same problem (I saw him logged as User:Kiefer70‎). --Senvaikis (talk) 18:18, September 1, 2009 (UTC)

LWT

Hi Senv!

Nice to see you've been resting up and also that you've made it through to the other side relatively unscathed.

I know LWT isn't a bot, but I feel it may be affected. So I just wanted to let you know that it might be a while before we can bot tasks again :(

Яєdxx Actions Words 16:04, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

"Unscathed"? - lol, lwt needs to be rewrited totally, but I'm not going to do that for a while for the same reasons you've mentioned. All my activity now - just cautious testing what I've lost for good and what may be restored...:( --Senvaikis (talk) 16:17, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

Invite

Waiting for the end of all this nightmare...

If someone knows how this end may be anticipated - let me know.

--Senvaikis (talk) 13:09, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

What's goin' on?

Refuse to understand what's goin' on:

  • SNLI is shown as being empty, though it's not actually (sample);
  • PNST is like a zombie, resurgenting (3'd time) after every cleaning (by edit or touch)
  • rudimental "lyrics/" prefix is still alive (but not for all pages, and what's most strange - not for all users)

Thank heavens, the day after tomorrow I'm taking a break for a week.--Senvaikis (talk) 10:57, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

Made an experiment. Touching any song, having no language set, returns it into SNLI. All songs, potentially members of SNLI, my be found here. Though who and how made SNLI empty??--Senvaikis (talk) 11:36, September 26, 2009 (UTC)
