Bowie

Thanks for applying the album art to the David Bowie page. It had been on my list of things to do so you've saved me a job. And doesn't it look nice? Now if only all the songs on the 'Other Songs' list were to magically disappear our work on that page would almost be done (hee hee).  ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 06:25, 14 May 2008 (EDT)

Hi, Redxx;
btw, your ToDo list was just that starting point inspired me to these uploads :).
...And felicitations!
--Senvaikis 11:39, 14 May 2008 (EDT)
Hee hee..yes, with goodness knows how many artists to choose from, it helps to focus my attentions too. Keep up the good work and feel free to keep checking that list whenever you feel 'uninspired' ;) ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 13:55, 14 May 2008 (EDT)

Other Songs

I saw your post on Keifer's page about the 'Other Songs' on Queen's page and the fact that some of these relate to The Cross. Your understanding is absolutely correct and therefore you were right, on the occasion of which you refer, to make a new page for Grinderman. If a page does not exist, then a new page needs to be created for the artist/song (see Help - Creating A New Page). However if a page does exist, then you need to redirect the incorrect page to the correct artist/song title. The way to do this is described here Help:Redirect. The only thing I would add is that after redirecting, the incorrect song title should then be manually removed from the 'Other Songs' list...never to appear there again (lol). The more you do this, the more you will find that many of the songs appearing under the heading 'Other Songs' on artists' pages can be cleaned up in this way. I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to leave me a message on my talk page. Happy editing!  ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 09:12, 16 May 2008 (EDT)

You are exeptional entertainer indeed - only you can provide detailed instruction for new page creation right after statement that I was right when I have created new page allready. Very funy:). Anyway Your attention is pleasing;). What is less pleasant - is editing of old garbaged pages of superstars with enormous "Other songs" sections. Was trying to impress Kiefer, putting into shape Jethro Tull. Lol... Only now, after I've give up after a whole day work, I realised how right I was saying that UI for such job is lame...
Good night, --Senvaikis 18:36, 16 May 2008 (EDT)

Weird caching issues are fixed.

Hi,
I never really found out what your comment about the weird caching was because things were THAT messed up. But the fact that the message didn't work was enough of an alert itself. It turned out to be quite a messy problem, but is all fixed up now. There'll be more information on the blog tonight.
Thanks for reporting the problem,
-Sean Colombo (talk|contribs) 09:17, 28 May 2008 (EDT)

If all posts of last two days are lost irreversibly, content of other pages should be corrected and cleared from links to nonexisting pages/sections (see Recent changes/User talk forex.)
And - thanks for LW restored :) --Senvaikis 14:35, 28 May 2008 (EDT)

Problems again?

After drastic server slowdown for some time past I started to have some editing/updating problems - seems to me, replication is out of controll again...--Senvaikis 09:28, 3 June 2008 (EDT)

Just assumption - multiple editing of extra-large pages (Queen, Nina Simone etc.) should be considered as one of possible reasons for replication 'bottle-neck' --Senvaikis 11:00, 3 June 2008 (EDT)
Absolutely impossible to work (at least with page Nina Simone), - i'm givin' up, annoyed for wasted time :(. --Senvaikis 18:08, 3 June 2008 (EDT)
This is weird. :-/ After it tells you that you're out of date... if you try to submit the page anyway, will it work or does it give you that error again? I just did a test edit on Nina Simone and it worked for me w/o the error (but it did have the out-of-date warning). Sorry that it's being so frustrating :(
-Sean Colombo (talk|contribs) 08:11, 4 June 2008 (EDT)
I think I see what you mean now... if you work on any of the pages linked to from that page (eg: Nina Simone:Come Back, Jack) those have the errors.
It's behaving very weird. I did an action=purge on the "come back, jack" page and got the article to actually show up once but haven't seen it since.
What this indicates to me is that the slave is probably messed up still. I'm not sure how that's possible if I did what I thought I did yesterday. The reason it would appear random is that 80% of read-requests are sent to the slave (which is an apparently-broken copy) and 20% are sent to the master (which is the "right" version).
I'm guessing I may have to start the replication over again (which takes another outage for a minimum of about 30 minutes).
By any chance, were you editing Nina Simone between 1am and 8:30am EST yesterday? That could help me figure out a little more about the problem.
Sorry again for the lameness and thanks for the info,
-Sean Colombo (talk|contribs) 08:27, 4 June 2008 (EDT)
Hi. I'm having the same out of date revision error with B.B. King when trying to edit any sections of it EchoSierra 08:37, 4 June 2008 (EDT)
Hi, sorry for late and short response - have only half a minute. Naturally I can't reproduce the exact time of all my yesterday's edits, but I hope you have even better scope for all event logs than me. One thing I can confirm - your description of problem symptoms was absolutelly precise. Regards, --Senvaikis 15:56, 4 June 2008 (EDT)
Checked Nina Simone page once more and found all my previous edits gone for a good. Ok, skip it! - said I and just for testing added new album Nina Simone Sings Ellington (1962) section. 'Show preview' displayed it properly, but after saving I was returned to the starting point - any track of editing... Then I returned to preview, and created the new album page. Page was created and shown properly. I even uploaded album cover image for it. Cover preview page said me, that there are 2 pages with link to that image file - album page and artist page. But when I tried to follow given link to artist page - it didn't contain any info about created album...
My suspicion, that replication problems are caused by page oversizing, are still growing. But, having no additional info, I have no other choice but suspending further efforts to publish something here untill better days. Sad...--Senvaikis 06:22, 5 June 2008 (EDT)
BTW, found some footprint of my previous edits in one of older revisions (2008-06-03 23:50:23) of page...
I am having same problems with Brian May page and that isn't at all oversized... ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 21:05, 5 June 2008 (EDT)
...Same on Muddy Waters (checked yesterday) and B.B. King (reported here by EchoSierra)...--Senvaikis 01:40, 6 June 2008 (EDT)

Nice try...lol

Under The Sun / Every Day Comes & Goes/ Every Day Comes & Goes/ Every Day Comes & Goes/ Every Day Comes & Goes/ Every Day Comes

but apparently these 3 songs can't be deleted... ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 03:34, 24 June 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for info, Redxx, though I dont't believe you really think I haven't noticed warning about undestructable file ;) Yes, try wasn't nice, despite it wasn't a try to delete - just redirection. And if you look more careful at history of page, you'll notice that this time bot added to OS only 3 files (compared to 5 after your cleaning). But the most interesting thing for me is your ...lol. Don't you think it's me who may laugh when admin gibes any user efforts to remove some problem (instead of removing this problem himself). Knowing your playful nature, I believe it was just a friendly joke - I don't suffer snub-nosing much more :)--Senvaikis (talk) 15:21, 24 June 2008 (EDT)
Yes you are right of course and indeed no offence was meant. So I hereby give you my complete permission to 'lol' at me to your heart's content from this day forward (hee hee). Joking aside though, it would certainly make my day to see those damn songs disappear from the page.. ♫Яєdxx Actions Words 06:18, 25 June 2008 (EDT)
Enjoying permissions I've got from you: ha ha ha! What a dream for admin - to delete 3 files...:) Speaking more serious: if you are going to speak about that with some more technically-oriented admin, I have a few long-standing questions to him too. If you'd like, I can list them here ;) --Senvaikis (talk) 02:02, 26 June 2008 (EDT)

Questions I would like to be answered

  • LW SOAP WS .NET-incompatibility (This is the Main question for me!)
    • Started 3 October 2007
    • Admins involved: Teknomunk, Sean
    • Progress: discussion led to conclusion that LW WS isn't WS-I compliant; Sean even created separate sub-page for this issue. But it seems if that this sub-page was created just to tuck-away deeper embarrasing question. I even made some testing NET WS project and posted wsdl file it generated - no comments...:( My last posts to that subpage were left unanswered.
    • Current status: Unsolved; LW SOAP WS is still unavailable for army of .NET developers.
  • Autotemplates, First Letter and Documentation
    • Started: 9 October 2007, see 'Beginner's_questions #2'
    • Admins involved: Teknomunk, Sean, Kiefer
    • Progress: Main discussion moved to Sean talk page; Initially Sean have even changed Help documentation, but later, after some discussion restored it.
    • Current status: Autotemplate behavior still is in contradiction with the Help documentation.
  • Batch cleaning of OS lists, containing redirected artists
    • Started: 9 October 2007, see #Beginner's_questions #1; repeated '17 June 2008
    • Admins involved: Teknomunk
    • Progress: none; the same situation is in The Beautiful South page, containing a huge list of songs, waiting to be redirected from Beautiful South. I'm pretty sure there are more such easy-batch-redirectable OS lists...
    • Current status: No news. (EDIT: closed. You may say anything, but I'll never believe it's such a sophisticated task to reduce such OS's...--Senvaikis (talk) 05:49, 4 July 2008 (EDT))
