To request a rename, please follow the following process:

  1. Register the username that you would like to use as a new account on Wikia. You can do this by logging off and clicking on the Create an Account button in the upper-right corner.
  2. Make sure that the email address that you have on file for both accounts match. You can adjust your email address by logging in, then visiting Special:Preferences.
  3. Request the rename below. Please sign the request using both the old account and the new account so that we can verify that it is really you.

Question..and Answer..?

@Kyle: Our normal user names are not taken. As you can see from the list below, they are all red links. They also all say "Unregistered". We want our usernames to stay the same. We don't want to append LYRIC. And we want our contributions correctly assigned. Please assist.  Яєdxx Actions Words 07:09, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Redxx, they may be red links in our corner of the WikiaWorld, but Wikia uses a global identity system. If a user registers "Kiefer" on the SpongeBob wiki, then that same Username is also good at Lostpedia, Wookieepedia, LyricWiki, etc., etc. I tried to see if there was a way to check (without actually going through the process of creating an account) if a Username has been taken at Wikia, but I didn't have any luck. It'd be nice to be able to see if, perhaps "Kiefer" was created by myself and I don't remember. But I don't know where to look for the global contributions at Wikia for "Kiefer". If I saw the contributions, I'd know if it was me. There must be a way to keep track of all the edits that one does at Wikia, but I'm not sure where that would be.    Kiefer    talk    contribs    admin   16:37, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Ok thanks Kiefer, but as I have just added to the end of the following post, if you try registering with the same username and password as you had before the move, an error message will obviously result if the username has been taken. Because to be honest, all I can see are a growing list of users unhappy at being renamed and one hell of a lot of red links. Links which add insult to injury when followed, by informing us that User account "xxxx" is not registered
I also find it extremely hard to believe that all our usernames have already been taken. Equally that there is another User:WillMak050389 necessitating Will's account being renamed "LYRIC-Punktab" and his contributions allocated to that user name accordingly. There could only ever be one WillMak050389, as I'm sure you agree!
So no, usernames having already been taken is not the explanation. Nor is it the answer. It seems that everyone has been affected by this which would seem to indicate that in fact we were all renamed. And by my understanding that was not what was meant to happen. Can you tell I'm not a happy little bunny? (Rfl)  Яєdxx Actions Words 19:45, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

@Users:I managed to resume my username simply by logging in here with my normal username and password. I would also suggest that if that doesn't work, you try creating a new account by registering (as KyleH has instructed in 1 above) but with the same username and password as you had before the move. If the username is indeed unavailable then an error message will obviously result. N.B. It doesn't let you register the same email address twice.  Яєdxx Actions Words 07:14, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Multiple user contributions compacted into one account

Contributions

Re: LYRIC-Maji / MaximCHS I have no idea what happened here. My username was never "Maji". The MaximCHS account still exists with its profile description I'd written, but all the contributions I've made are on this "LYRIC-Maji" account. Additionally, I can't log on to this account. I tried getting them to send a password to my email, but they say there is no stored email address for that account. MaximCHS 06:17, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Same for me with LYRIC-Redrum and Xehpuk. With the difference that it said "A new password has been sent to the e-mail address registered for "LYRIC-Redrum". Please log in again after you receive it." but I didn't get any. хенрик 16:30, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Oh, I'm seeing that there are contributions, which aren't mine, too. хенрик 17:11, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

User Merges?

It seems all of my Lyricwiki stuff got dumped onto User:LYRIC-Punktab because I already had a wikia account. Is there a way to merge my contributions, watchlist, and user rights (I should be an admin) to my current/usual username? Thanks! --WillMak050389 18:50, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Will, although we were informed that the only users who would be renamed would be those few where the username has already been taken, it seems that we have all been renamed to an account beginning "LYRIC-". Additionally, our past contributions have all been allocated to these accounts. Having a wikia account had nothing to do with why your account, my account, 6's, Kiefer's, Senv's, etc. etc. have all been renamed. Яєdxx Actions Words 03:04, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

Renames

  • LYRIC-Firehawk to Firehawk)
  • I already have a wikia account, that's why I'd rather like a complete merge to Firehawk) than just a rename (to keep my contributions on lyricwiki). thanks Firehawk 03:01, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
    • I'm pretty sure "Firehawk" is already taken and well.. this here is my actual wikia account anyway. Firehawk) 02:25, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

  • LYRIC-Olof to Olof
  • I'm currently named LYRIC-Olof and if possible i would like my username changed to Olof. Thanks! Olof 16:15, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
    • Olof already exists elsewhere on Wikia. Please choose a different username for the rename.

  • LYRIC-Chris to Chris
  • Hi, as all the other ones I want to get rid of that "LYRIC-" prefix again, so could you please move my account from LYRIC-Chris to Chris again? Thank you. - Chris 19:48, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
    • Chris already exists elsewhere on Wikia. Please choose a different username for the rename.
      • Gosh, what a strange system. Wikia should've thought about the account system before creating it. It's kind of obvious that a multi-topic hosting site shouldn't use universal accounts. This kills a lot of peaceful coexistance of users who do not share any interest. I'm neither interersted in SpongeBob nor in Naruto or any other kinds of Wikia stuff. However now I am forced to move to a new name, though the other "Chris" in Wikia obviously doesn't have any interest in LyricWiki. This account system isn't sensible. So much for that.
My new name is "LWChris" (created account is mine, same password and same e-mail if you need any authentification sign) - Chris 01:26, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

  • LYRIC-Pauline to PaulineG
  • Only a few days ago, I registered as PaulineG (and used a different email address) without knowing that LyricWiki had moved here. I would like to have my accounts merged. --LYRIC-Pauline 14:35, September 5, 2009 (UTC) && PaulineG 14:37, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Want to update my name

Hey,

My username was "loquatious" on the old lyricwiki.org site. I tried unsuccessfully to log is as both "loquatious" and "Lyric-loquatious" on the new lyric.wikia.com site. So I created a new user account as "loquatious2" I would like my old account info from "loquatious" added to my new "loquatious2" account"
