Problem Reports

Hello BeatriceBlue,

welcome to LyricWiki and thanks for contributing to it. I'm here because of your recent problem reports: rather than deleting a wrongly named song page we create redirects, so people who mistype the title, too, will still be redirected to the lyrics they were searching for. You can redirect pages on your own, using #REDIRECT [[Correct Artist:Correct Title]] as content for the page. Please list the songs up that have the wrong artist, but simply redirect the only wrongly named songs. - Chris 22:31, July 19, 2010 (UTC) P.S.: You can always contact me at my talkpage.

Those pesky album types

Thanks for adding an album to the Tainted Love page. Just so you know for the future, the format for the album type parameter is different between the Song template and the AddAlb template: in the Song template, it's "type2=compilation," but in AddAlb, it's "2type=compilation" (and "3type," "4type," "5type," and so on), so that's an edit that needs to be made when moving albums from Song to AddAlb. Trainman 17:33, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! I actually did make note of the difference, but totally forgot when I did it. I totally appreciate the help. BeatriceBlue 16:08, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

Your problem reports

Hello BeatriceBlue,

I'm here because you filed two Problemreports on the songs Peter Godwin:Baby's In The Mountains and Peter Godwin:The Dancer. As I see you already figured out what the problem was at "Baby's In The Mountains": the year was missing. Therefore a wrong, non-existant page was linked, and because of the missing year the format matched a songtitle and was treated as a song.

The problem with the second page is, that "compilation" as "type" is a reserved parameter, meaning a compilation by various artists such as Bravo Hits f. e.. Hence there is - of course - no general artist, neither mentioned on the page nor included in the pagetitle. The type=compilation parameter prevents {{Song}} from putting the artist in front of the link, so "Images Of Heaven: The Best Of Peter Godwin (1998)" with "type=compilation" does not link to Peter Godwin:Images Of Heaven: The Best Of Peter Godwin (1998) as it should, but to Images Of Heaven: The Best Of Peter Godwin (1998) which does not exist.

However "type=album" is default and needn't be included, which is why I deleted it. You can use "type=compilation album" if you want to, but usually compilations are not marked as such.

There is something I want to ask you: why do you lowercase the line's first letters? Usually we do it exactly the other way round because it looks better and it is a common standard. Is there any special reason for it? - Chris 12:58, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

Ha ha ha ha!! So funny you bring this up! I am a bit OCD when it comes to lyrics & writing. I like a nice flowing format, easily distinguishable choruses, & capitalized first letters of every line. If you check out any other lyrics for any other artist that I have contributed, you'll see they conform to these standards.
Peter Godwin is a friend of mine. I saw he did not have his lyrics or a page here, so asked him to send me copies of them so I could post them. When he did, they came exactly as you see them. I spent a good deal of time going through, capitalizing & punctuating to my little English degreed heart's content, before "fixing" them & posting. But, I realized on many of the songs (Images of Heaven comes to mind), I ended up having 3 possible versions. The 1st was as he sent them, next minor capitalization & punctuation added, finally 4-line stanzas with choruses in separate paragraphs.
I asked him his preference, and here is his reply:
Regarding cleaning up the lyrics, I think there are two schools of thought on transcribing lyrics.
The way they are here is one school. Every word you hear on the artist performance (that's mine in this case) is transcribed. The downside is that you will get some ad libs and repetitions that are not key to the core lyric (and are more about sound and music in the performance) and make it read less like poetics..
The upside is for people who like to distinguish.. "what did he sing there?".
The other school is to reduce the lyric to its leanest form. Even then you have to decide whether you will omit a chorus if it's an exact repetition. Or, is that justified as a refrain which takes on new meaning each time it follows a different verse or bridge- by that new juxtaposition?
If I was publishing a lyric book I would have to consider this carefully- that said, I notice even the highly poetic Dylan, tends to go word for word in his lyric books- but then, he doesn't ad lib a lot in his style. Well, neither do I really.. maybe at the end of songs, sometimes.
For now, for this purpose, I think let's keep the word by word transcript approach, as you did. I looked at them and actually most of them don't have a lot of spare "flab" or surplus..
Regarding capitalization of the first letter of each line. I know most people do this. (Dylan included).
I have a reason why I go for the all low case e e cummings route, with no punctuation, except "..." occasionally.
The reason is twofold. One, there is no punctuation, so each line is not actually the beginning of a sentence. Two, as a capital suggests a new beginning, but often one line will run into the next line in terms of sense, I felt that the capital could confuse or close down some possible meanings.
So when you read all low case then all the poetic ambiguities are left intact.
So low case was intentional.
Having explained that, you don't have to change it. That's my very individual perspective. From the point of view of the reader, I know that most readers are blind to the capital at the front of the line when it's a song lyric- they don't let it signify a new sentence or sense. They just absorb it as a convention of lyric presentation.
Because it is his work, I decided to go back & post as he wrote & prefers them. Does that answer your question? Would you like me to explain things to him, then go back & change them again to be more in tune with the site? BeatriceBlue 22:45, August 7, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining that - if the author of the lyrics want them to be all lowercase, it's okay with us I guess. I think it's much more important that the words match the sung texts than anything else. Sorry about that you had to notice me, I usually watch/follow the pages I post on, but I forgot it this time. - Chris 22:13, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

Meat Beat Manifesto

Hi! I was poking around and saw on 6 times 9's talk page that you wanted to add Suicide to Meat Beat Manifesto. I noticed that you hadn't done it, so I did what I think you wanted - have a look and see if that's what you had in mind. Chop/change/butcher/delete if you don't like it.

The {{H4|Make up some header name here}} tags are my attempt to sort miscellaneous "Other Songs" into categories, like singles, soundtracks, tribute albums, best of's, compilations, etc. I couldn't think of a better way to divide them up. It's not LyricWiki policy. Eeepy 04:36, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

It wasn't necessarily exactly what I was trying to do, but it works. And actually, it seems a lot easier, quicker & cleaner than what I was picturing & trying to accomplish! I appreciate it! Thank you so much! ;o] BeatriceBlue 08:36, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

Duran Duran "former members"

Hi BeatriceBlue! I've fixed it to show you how to get "former members" box. I also needed a long time until i knew how to do it.

Note: With "|memberof=" you'll have a " Xxx is a member of" box and with "|fmemberof=" a "Xxx was amember of" box.

Quotation from User talk:Senvaikis: Chris, thank you so much, but now that I've hit 40, I am, alas, no longer young! LOL BeatriceBlue 22:30, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

Shocked How many years old is the pic on your page then? 10? 15? Sceptical - Chris 23:16, February 16, 2011 (UTC)
Aw, so sweet! Last year, actually! I did kind of lie though, I turned 39 Jan 24th, but thought 40 sounded better! Shhhhh!! Still, compliments will get you everywhere!! LOL Now, do I really have to go back & put that on every page to qualify them as Gold? Seems unnecessary & assumed. BeatriceBlue 01:13, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
I don't know, to be honest, I upgraded a few song to gold without credits section, as well. Because IMO, I needn't declare that once again as long as it's not different from the performing artist. Hm. - Chris 15:47, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
That was exactly my point! Ok, only fair now - how old are you, and where do you live? BeatriceBlue 17:59, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
I live in Germany. For the age: make an adequate guess first, talking of fairness Wink - Chris 22:03, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
Damn! I thought you were my age, or slightly older, but it occurred to me you could be young, like early 20's. So, I don't really know. Just tell me! LOL As far as Germany, I assumed that. What part? BeatriceBlue 22:09, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
See, how our own age influences our unconscious estimation of other people's ages? I am younger than 20, actually. Wink. Part: North Rhine-Westphalia. For other information see my subpage Wink (link from my userpage) - Chris 23:10, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
It's funny, but until the last few days I thought you were older, but something, I don't know what, told me you were young. And I almost said "younger than 20", but thought, "nah." You still got out of an actual number though, young man. I'm waiting... LOL BeatriceBlue 23:22, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
And I almost said "younger than 20", but thought, "nah." - Bad luck. My age is mentioned anywhere in the project, but not very far from where you might expect it. Tongue Good luck with searching Lol - Chris 00:21, February 18, 2011 (UTC)
;o}~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Thank you for restarting this thread on the left so I get full effect! LOL) BeatriceBlue 04:14, February 18, 2011 (UTC)
I remember now! It was going to Vienna for school that made think you were younger than I initially thought. I'm looking. You're welcome to erase my steps, but you'll know where I've been! BeatriceBlue 04:33, February 18, 2011 (UTC)
Success! *happy underwear dance* Ha ha ha! 20 this year, I see! BeatriceBlue 05:02, February 18, 2011 (UTC)
going to Vienna for school - so you read my blog post, right? Wink Sorry to say, but if you had read them all you'd have known my age, too Tongue. Teehee, Chris 13:00, February 20, 2011 (UTC)
I honestly didn't think, from the beginning of that entry, that it was going to give me what I wanted, LOL. I see my math was off by a year. Doesn't matter. That's the great thing about the Internet and music, you can be friends with anyone. BeatriceBlue 15:11, February 20, 2011 (UTC)
Your maths is correct. I'll be 20 this year, 14th of October Smile - Chris 17:36, February 20, 2011 (UTC)

After a week... start to wonder where your friends are? - Chris 04:44, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

Awww! How sweet! I've been moving actually. TONS of cleaning, prepping, & painting before I can even get in. But, you can always find me on Facebook, my dear! ;ox 02:19, April 13, 2011 (UTC)
Bit more than a week, but I'm back!! Do you even remember me? Haha! BeatriceBlue 06:08, September 21, 2011 (UTC)
Of course I do Smile You don't know how often I wondered the same in the past months, and, believe it or not, it's not a week ago I thought about where all my female friends over (besides of you that is 1, 2, 3) here always disappear... hm. - Chris 19:52, September 22, 2011 (UTC)
What happened to 1 & 2? I didn't know 3, but the first two I thought were part of the regulars. Weird. Hope they are all ok. Well, I'm back, at least. Haha! BeatriceBlue 04:53, September 23, 2011 (UTC)
Eeepy has been quite active the last few days, so she's at least conscious at least some of the time ;-) Red recently dropped in for a snarky remark, but apparently she's mislaid her login data... — 6×9 (Talk) 16:14, September 23, 2011 (UTC)
Well hello 6×9!! Good to hear from you! What would life be without a snarky comment now & then? ;o) BeatriceBlue 16:21, September 24, 2011 (UTC)
"Eeepy has been quite active the last few days"
  • Naive's conclusion: "Yay, she's back"
  • Six' conclusion: "She's at least conscious at least some of the time"
  • Mathematican's conclusion: "Someone who knows her account data is at least conscious at least some of the time."
  • Neo's conclusion: "Either she is doing edit, or it's something else doing the edits and there is an error in the matrix so that his/her/its edits are assigneded to Eeepy's account."

Hey, I'm having trouble (as u can see) with uploading photos. As uncategorized and such. I need step by step 'lesson', if you will, for how to do this. Ciao, -ÂØˇÂ⁄⁄ 18:55, October 18, 2011 (UTC)

Absolutely. No problem! 1st of all, what type? Album cover art or some artist photos? Any photo in particular? Give me an example of something you want to do, & then meanwhile I'll work on writing out a step by step guide for you for both. ;o) BeatriceBlue 20:23, October 18, 2011 (UTC)
Actually it's for Album Art. Artist photos, they never got on to me for Tongue anyway, thanks a bunch! -ÂØˇÂ⁄⁄ 17:25, October 19, 2011 (UTC)

Hello there

Hey Betty (if I am allowed to call you so; if not: hello Beatrice),

I hope you're fine and have recovered well from your loss of sight. *hug* if you want to, - Chris 21:44, February 2, 2014 (UTC)
