Amon Düül II

Dear 6 times 9,
I noticed that you down-ranked two song pages from gold to bronze. I checked the LW:PR page again and I'm not quite sure what I'm missing. If it's about the talk page, normally I rank all songs from an album and after that I create the talk page for each song with copy/paste. This way I only have to do minor changes. Maybe you can get back at me if you got the time. Thanks.
Darknite47 10:00, April 7, 2012 (UTC)

Ah. That's all good then. I just saw you had upgraded the page several hours ago and not filled in the talk page, so I thought you might not know about the requirements for Silver/Gold songs. Next time I'll know to leave it be :-) — 6×9 (Talk) 10:44, April 7, 2012 (UTC)

Linkin Park:Dedicated

Please participate in the discussion about the song's name at the song's talk page. - Chris 16:18, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Hey there is a user here, User:RichalvarezFan11, and he is a sock-puppet account of a user named Haroldfan4eva. Harold fan globally disabled by wikia, for abusing his admin powers, and most of all, being underaged, estimated, 9 years old. Please block this user for infinite, and email-block. Thanks. TheGunther You sittin' on my bench? 19:15, April 12, 2012 (UTC)

I'll keep an eye on his contributions, but so far his edits seem benevolent, and he hasn't violated any LyricWiki policies, so I'd rather not block him straight away. If he's violating Wikia's policies another global ban might be in the works for him anyway… But thanks for the notice! — 6×9 (Talk) 04:48, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

You ruined my plans! (no offense) Do you realize that Tangerine Dream has released over 200 albums! I thought it would be easier to list all their albums in that way. -ÂØˇÂ⁄⁄ 18:07, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

(None taken.) How many of these are soundtracks, live albums or compilations? It would be preferable to split those off while keeping the "main" albums on the artist page. If the main albums are still too numerous, they can be split across several pages – see Frank Sinatra for example, although the split wouldn't necessarily have to be by decade (and the 32kb limit isn't really a concern; I doubt anyone still uses IE3). If that's what you were going to do anyway, feel free to undo my edit! — 6×9 (Talk) 19:54, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

Overlapping Lyrics

Hi there. If you have a spare few minutes, can you take a look at a message I've left on Help desk?     ǝsʞpɐןǝ  (talk page)  17:37, 18/04/2012

The Dreaming

Alright, I was in a conversation with someone over The Dreaming's lyrics, and yes, I got a little heated in things I said, and I will take whatever responsibility is needed on my part. However, the guy I was having the argument with I told at least an hour ago that I was done arguing, even to the point where I deleted the conversation off my talk page, and he posted something yet again. I have no problems admitting when I'm wrong about, which what he keeps going on I'm not, the thing I'm wrong about is arguing with him in the first place and most likely at least misinterpreting one thing that he said that didn't help this situation any, but he's going on about things that he doesn't know about me still, an hour at least after the last comment I made. So if you would be so kind as to tell me now what my best course of action would be, then I'd appreciate it, because I was over this at least an hour and a half ago, and he just left another message about 5 minutes or so ago from the time of my posting this message. Thanks and sorry for bothering you with this. The last message he left is on my talk page.Salzion 00:27, May 2, 2012 (UTC)

For now things seem to have quieted down (or maybe he's just offline...), so I hope this has blown over. If he starts bombarding your talk page again, it's probably best if you step back and let Chris (who so rarely loses his temper, I doubt he even has one) try to reason with him. Unfortunately, as long as he doesn't stoop to actual insults or harassment, there's little else we can do. — 6×9 (Talk) 18:53, May 2, 2012 (UTC)
Well, he actually was insulting me, which is where calling me a liar in a poser in that last message comes in as well as the comments on his page of another long diatribe, however, like I said in response to Chris, I was done arguing before that message showed up, and I'm done arguing it now, and I refuse to discuss any more of this publically. I made my mistakes, and I'm not going to continue to be called a liar and poser by this person. So if anyone else wants to talk to me about it, I will gladly do so, just not in the realm of the Wiki. Thank you though, and sorry for having to contact you on something so juvenile.Salzion 22:16, May 2, 2012 (UTC)

Hi, 6

Does it only seems to me, or you've got a teddy time indeed? Anyways - please be curious - take a look at my list of Curiosities :) --Senvaikis (talk) 13:45, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
It's a problem with the {{PAGENAME}} magic word, see this test page. No idea why it encodes ' " & (especially since urlencode is available) but leaves unicode characters alone… Pity there's no urldecode. I suppose the simplest workaround would be to use {{PAGENAMEE}} and replace "_" with "+", no urldecode necessary then. (It leaves "/" unencoded though, not sure if that would be a problem.) — 6×9 (Talk) 19:12, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
Maybe you've found some solution for killing "immortal" pages also?
Anyway - hope I made your life slightly more interesting ;).
--Senvaikis (talk) 19:50, May 7, 2012 (UTC)
Modified {{ArtistFooter}} so apostrophes don't break search links anymore. Unencoded slashes don't appear to be a problem.
Wish I knew how to deal with undead pages, but I guess you'll need direct DB access for that. A few more are in BrokenRedirects.
I wouldn't mind life being a little less interesting right now, or at least less busy… I'll have to wait a few more months for that though. — 6×9 (Talk) 19:40, May 8, 2012 (UTC)
Not sure if this is related or this has any use, but when I designed the T-Line, I ran into the necessity for this template: {{AlbumArtT/Encode}}, which deals with the same type of problem. - Chris 20:15, May 8, 2012 (UTC)

Life isn't going to be less interesting... ;)--Senvaikis (talk) 08:33, May 30, 2012 (UTC)

Kurt Denison

I had posted some of my lyrics to the wikia, but would like to remove them all. I am making a pivot with some of my music and need to remove these. Please let me know any information that is needed to do so.

--Kjdenison 02:50, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

I assume you're talking about Kurt Denison? I can delete the pages, so they won't be visible to non-admins. If you want them erased from the database entirely, you'll have to ask Sean. — 6×9 (Talk) 13:36, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

'Spoken Word' track

I have a track entitled 'Intro' on the Team StarKid album The SPACE Tour (2012). The track features no lyrics, but but a pre-recorded 'faux announcement' that was played at the start of the concert the album was recorded from. You can listen to the track here on YouTube.

What I want to know is: do I create a page for it, and if so, what should be on this page? A transcript, or some sort of note? Thanks in advance.     ǝsʞpɐןǝ  (talk page)  16:43, 11/06/2012

If it's a track on an album it should get a song page. For announcements, normally a notice will do. There were plans to do a SpokenWord template similar to {{instrumental}} once, but that didn't materialize… In this case though it seems that the announcement ties in with the "concept" of the album, so a transcript might be appropriate here.
Or the short version: there is no strict rule :-) — 6×9 (Talk) 19:21, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

Spam, spam, spam, eggs and spam

Here's one to keep you busy for a few minutes. Altan:Ceol APhíobaire and Altan:Ceol APháobaire needed to be redirected to Altan:Ceol A'phiobaire. The first of those two - Altan:Ceol APhíobaire - worked fine. I copied and pasted the redirect line from that one into the second - Altan:Ceol APháobaire - and got this spam protection page:

The page you wanted to save was blocked by the spam filter. This is probably caused by a link to an external site. If you think you entered normal text that we shouldn't block, please tell Sean or another admin.
( Call #5 )
The following link, text or pagename is what triggered our spam filter:
If you think this is wrong, please contact us here. Please, provide a copy of this message when reporting any problem.
Return to Altan:Ceol APháobaire.

This would have made more sense of this if both had thrown up the spam filter. Over to you! Eeepy 11:58, June 16, 2012 (UTC)

The problem is the name of the second page. It contains a soft hyphen (%C2%AD in the URL), which for some reason triggers the spam filter. (You can't see it in the above link, but if you place the cursor right of the "o" and move left twice, it's still right of the "á".)
If you come across other pages with the same problem (usually created by User:ÜberBot), you can safely delete them – I doubt any normal user would look for page titles with soft hyphens. — 6×9 (Talk) 12:11, June 16, 2012 (UTC)
I'll have to try harder. I thought that might keep you busy for at least 3 minutes. Eeepy 12:26, June 16, 2012 (UTC)
If you include checking which of the two unicode chars caused the problem, and looking up its meaning, and typing the reply, it probably took almost five minutes. (I'll have to remember checking the clock next time.) Does that make you feel better? ;-) — 6×9 (Talk) 12:29, June 16, 2012 (UTC)
Much better! I feel all warm and fuzzy now. Dragon There is no significance to that emoticon - I couldn't find anything fuzzy. Eeepy 14:52, June 16, 2012 (UTC)

Country switch for artists in {{ITunes}}

Hi, 6

{{ITunes}} needs a small correction, enabling country switch for artists - now it works only for albums and songs.
You may take Μελίνα Ασλανίδου with (desirable) link to Greek iTunes, as example for your tests.
Tia, --Senvaikis (talk) 08:24, June 19, 2012 (UTC)
Inserting cc in URL doesn't work with phobos/... link like with simple link used for songs/albums, you need "storefront ID" (s=...) for that; replacing with simple URL in {{iTunes/Artist}} didn't work for some reason. I'll fix this tomorrow, am a bit short on time today. I doubt current fix for Μελίνα is satisfying…6×9 (Talk) 14:00, June 19, 2012 (UTC)
done Just hope they don't update their storefront IDs too often… — 6×9 (Talk) 16:06, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

Well Done!, --Senvaikis (talk) 16:32, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Tom's Diner

So about Tom's Diner. Literally every version I can find has the "doo doo doo doo"s. The version they play on the radio does, all the versions on YouTube do (I'm in Florida so I can check), and yeah. That's not the remix, that's the actual song. XxTimberlakexx 19:51, June 26, 2012 (UTC)

It's either a remix or a later version done by Vega. The original album version doesn't have them (just played it again for certifying). (You can check Amazon's sample – it's long enough to prove this.) — 6×9 (Talk) 20:17, June 26, 2012 (UTC)
4 xxT: Suzanne Vega "Tom's Diner (Original Version)" - that's a version 6 and Wp are talking you about :) --Senvaikis (talk) 20:46, June 26, 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I gotcha. So should we make a page for the remake? It definitely deserves a page since it was more popular than the original. I know some of her later albums have the remake on it as well. XxTimberlakexx 01:16, June 27, 2012 (UTC)
Not sure a separate page is necessary, since the actual lyrics (as opposed to "vocal utterances") appear to be identical. Maybe a note above the lyrics would be sufficient. — 6×9 (Talk) 13:15, June 27, 2012 (UTC)

Sarey Savy

The Sarey Savy wikia is a real singer, sorry for providing dead links. Would you instead like to create the wiki page? ( 18:09, July 1, 2012 (UTC))

Hi There

Please tell me the purpose of this site wikia. There is written that wikia pages for everyone. But you delete the pages what other creates...? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk), 09:53, 16 July 2012.

If you tell me which page in particular you're talking about, I can tell you the reason it was deleted. — 6×9 (Talk) 10:00, July 16, 2012 (UTC)

Hi Thank you so much for your reply.I understand the reason.I pasted lyrics for the song(my own) and that was incomplete that's why it was deleted.Thank You..! You're really best for wikia.Keep doing great work. Mr.Sam Ali(Musician)

Hi there i came here to thank you so much for upgrading my pages of lyrics If I'll Ever Come Back .There are also other pages created by me which maybe need to upgrade those are Hope and Time To Get Up Now . Thanx Once again Mr.Sam Ali(Musician) --Mrsamali (talk) 03:46, July 27, 2012 (UTC) Hi there came here to ask you "can i customize my signature of my design? if so! tell me how? thanks --Mrsamali (talk) 05:25, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

Vestascension page undo

I undid your correction of my Songs Released By Month change, since, they do not actually have an album. They released songs on the first of each month up until August, Until we See The Ocean being the only song that didn't release periodically.

Spam filter strikes again

Trying to create Entombed:When In Sodom (2006) (link is straight from Entombed artist page). Saving it results in the save being blocked. The spam filter kicks in with the following message:

PHP fatal error in /usr/wikia/slot2/code/extensions/AbuseFilter/AbuseFilter.hooks.php line 29: Call to a member function getRawText() on a non-object

It doesn't seem to matter what I put in, I still can't get it to save and I suspect it's the actual page name itself. Any ideas? Eeepy (talk) 14:31, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

That's not the first time this happened. Senv's solution was to create the page under a different name and then move it (you'll probably want to uncheck "leave a redirect" for this).
BTW, it's not actually the spam filter blocking it, rather some faulty code in the spam filter (or somewhere else) causing the script execution to abort. — 6×9 (Talk) 17:27, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
I thought of that solution after I wrote this (while lying in bed trying to get to sleep, of course!), so I'm glad it worked. I had something similar the other day (check the history for Velvet Acid Christ:Futile (Nazi Bastard Mix) to see what I had to do to get it to save) but I just thought it was some weird one-off thing that time. Thanks for looking into it, I didn't think it could just be me. Eeepy (talk) 22:15, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

Signature Design

Hi there i want to know that can i customize my digital signature design. If so please tell me how? Thank you! --Mrsamali (talk) 12:23, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

You can edit your default signature in your user preferences. If you want to know how to get borders, font colors, background etc. but don't know HTML/CSS, you'd best ask some user with a sig design you like and modify their code with your text. — 6×9 (Talk) 13:53, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Categories again...

What do you think about the latest changes (pnst, imbl) in PNST & IMBL? --Senvaikis (talk) 08:38, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Same old problem with variables acting up. At this point, I don't think we'll ever see a solution (if anyone who could solve this even cares).
I've "refactored" {{MusicBrainz}} to no longer use them (at least for categorising), so IMBL should be more reliable now. — 6×9 (Talk) 09:29, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Lil Wayne

Hey 6 x 9,

So I've been going through some pages, and I've noticed that Lil Wayne's Other Songs section is a disaster. I've done some small work on it here and there, but it's so huge I need several people to help me clean it up, and can't do it all myself. While I'm not a fan of Wayne (I despise him and his work), I can tell you for a fact he is one of the biggest rappers out today, and his page should be cleaned up a lot.

Thanks in advance! Hopefully you'd be willing to help. XxTimberlakexx (talk) 16:43, August 16, 2012 (UTC)

It's actually worse than you thought. There were >100 more songs in Oblivion (songs that weren't orphaned because they had redirects linking to them). This'll take ages… there's only so much I can take at a time. — 6×9 (Talk) 19:06, August 16, 2012 (UTC)
God, that IS horrible! Now it's up to just over 500 other songs! x_X We'll definitely have to team up on this. Maybe even get Senv to help to since he's a great help at this kind of stuff. XxTimberlakexx (talk) 19:49, August 16, 2012 (UTC)
So I'm assuming this project is off for right now? I figured it would be, I don't know a single person that could clean up that Other Songs section. x_X

Unrelated, but I have another question, and I'm not sure if you're the perfect guy to ask, but I'm trying to Bronze the Damn Yankees completely, and on their Other Songs section, there's a few songs that I can't find much info on. Are they real songs, unreleased, live, etc? I know Cat Scratch Fever is a Ted Nugent song, and he was in that band, so that might be a confusion. XxTimberlakexx (talk) 03:42, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Most of them seem to be from the musical of the same name. "Bonestripper" is a single B-side (C-side?), and a couple were apparently played live – they appear on a bootleg. That should keep you occupied for a while :-) — 6×9 (Talk) 07:08, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you! I moved all the ones from the musical to the new name "Damn Yankees Cast", and I'll just mark the rest as Unreleased.

Also, you still haven't responded to what I asked you about the Lil Wayne project. XxTimberlakexx (talk) 13:27, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, hadn't noticed that bit. Yeah, we've done the obvious stuff; I'd rather leave the rest to someone familiar with his discography. Too many mixtapes, sort-of-compilations, collaborations, songs-by-other-artists-featuring-LW… — 6×9 (Talk) 00:12, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for reminding me to Cap Every Word for the official page titles. And for correcting my blunder (PSB). All the best! derekbd (talk) 17:25, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

You're welcome! I deliberated whether I should leave you a message in my Admin Voice, but thought it was probably just a one-time slip :-) — 6×9 (Talk) 17:31, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

Cannot edit a page with unbreakable space in the URL

Hi 6x9,

I already posted that to LyricWiki:Help_Desk#Cannot_edit_a_page_with_unbreakable_space_in_the_URL, but I'm not sure anybody can really help on that except an admin.

I have an issue deleting / redirecting a page and it seems to be due to an unbreakable space character in the original url:

In fact, if I try to edit it, it is automatically edited as:

And the exact same problem happened for that one too:

And thus I cannot remove or redirect that page that is marked as orphan everyday by a janitor bot :-(

That page is always listed here as a real page whereas it should be a redirect:

What can I do? I tried editing it using the encoded url, but that does not work :-(

It looks to me that there is a small bug in the server scripts.

Ideally these two broken pages should be deleted since there are not editable at all.

Thanks, --Bcousson (talk) 18:52, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

Yup, thanks, I'm after it. Will probably take about 15 minutes from now. - Chris 20:01, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
Okay, it's done. For the records, I used a query like this to get the pageid of the page with the illegal character and its delete-token, then used a selfmade HTML form to post the delete query. - Chris 20:27, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip and for the fix, that's awesome. I have now cleaned completely Renaud "Other Songs" section. BTW, shouldn't the wiki have a check to avoid the creation of such page in the future? Thanks, -Bcousson (talk) 22:32, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

Well Done!, Chris! Used your technique to clear finally C:CC, killing those 6 "immortal" files from List of Curiosities. Thx, - --Senvaikis (talk) 07:20, September 12, 2012 (UTC)

P.S. Repeated the same on Incubator and other ghosts from S:BR. --Senvaikis (talk) 10:41, September 12, 2012 (UTC)
Brilliant, Chris! Those Undeletables had been bugging me forever. If I weren't twice your age I'd ask you to marry me… — 6×9 (Talk) 18:23, September 12, 2012 (UTC)
Thank you, I feel honoured by so much love. Shy I'm glad my idea could help with several more issues. It took me a little longer than 15 minutes, because I tried it with the pagename at first, but API normalizes the "title" parameter, so I had to come up with the different method by pageid. Smile - Chris 19:43, September 12, 2012 (UTC)
