GameFeatureRBN

Hey 6,
With this recent news, could your bot perhaps destroy the {{GameFeatureRBN}} template on all pages that use it? I've similarly removed GameFeatureDLCs in the past on Rock Band DLC that has gotten removed from the store (since the template saying the songs are "available as DLC" would be misleading otherwise) and now since all RBN songs are getting removed from the store, there's not really a purpose to the template anymore. Holly Cole deleted song pages

I wanted to add the missing red songs from the Holly Cole album Temptation, but I get a Warning: You are recreating a page that was previously deleted. (by you in 2014). The reason given is: (gn placeholder).
All the songs on this album are covers of Tom Waits songs and the original lyrics are freely available on lw. Is it safe for me to recreate the pages with the correct lyrics? ---Vssm2004 (talk) 17:01, February 3, 2018 (UTC)

It's safe. That's a remnant from the days when our lyrics were licensed through Gracenote. — 6×9 (Talk) 17:05, February 3, 2018 (UTC)

Adding trivia to an Artists Page?

On album pages trivia can be added in the CreditBox.
I'd like to add a "trivia" to an artist's page. The trivia is the explanation of the band name. Which box is to use? Thanks WeHa --Weha (talk) 20:25, February 23, 2018 (UTC)

You can use the |info parameter in {{ArtistInfo}}. — 6×9 (Talk) 21:17, February 23, 2018 (UTC)

Ich Glaube Nicht

Hi 6t9,

A Billie Ray Martin song has been added to her album Deadline For My Memories which is sung in German. The song Ich Glaube Nicht is a German version of her song I Don't Believe.

As you live in Germany I assume you know German so could you advise if the lyrics are correct. I can certify them if they are.

The song can be played here

https://billieraymartin.bandcamp.com/track/ich-glaube-nicht

Thanks.

Regards, Katesbush999 (talk) 06:27, February 26, 2018 (UTC)

done A couple of lines were missing, I pasted them in from the bandcamp page. Other than that it just needed a few minor fixes.
You might want to add the backing vocals before certifying, as they're in English and not repetitions of BRM's lines. — 6×9 (Talk) 19:10, February 26, 2018 (UTC)
Thanks 6t9.
I added the backing vocals. Katesbush999 (talk) 07:51, February 27, 2018 (UTC)

Redundant VAs

Hi 6, Please see here. tia --ES (talk) 20:46, May 18, 2018 (UTC)

done Redundancy normally doesn't apply to VA, but we could make exceptions when the vast majority of links is red. — 6×9 (Talk) 08:58, May 20, 2018 (UTC)

AlbTitle & AA => one template?

Hi, Six

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that once long time ago you've mentioned about the intention to create a single template (for artist page), joining the formation of album title together with the album art. Such a template might have three parameters - the full name of the album page, the display part of this name and the full name of AA image file, where only the first parameter would be mandatory.
Actually it would not change nothing essentially, just would allow to save typing for editors in most common cases. Though to be honest I recalled this idea after one recent discussion, and for quite different, side-effect, reason - I think it would be easier to write a simple and unambiguous documentation for such template, solving some probs for those, who constantly confuse "may" and "must"... :)
What do you think about that? --Senvaikis (talk) 22:19, May 23, 2018 (UTC)
I actually started a template like that some time ago – but it would only take pagename (the other two could be fetched by dpl). I also tried to get it to transclude the tracklist, without relying on <onlyinclude> like {{list album}} doesdid, but didn't manage it, so eventually gave up… Maybe that functionality could be made optional by an additional parameter. — 6×9 (Talk) 19:00, May 24, 2018 (UTC)
I may be wrong again, but I believe that for several objective reasons the common nowadays practice of discography building @Lw generrally goes in another direction - from artist page to album page, i.e. in most cases album page doesn't exist yet atm of creating album on the artist page, so dpl hardly may be very useful in this stage. I think that our transclusion possibilities are still too weak to revert this dominating direction from (artist->alb) to (alb->artist). No need to say - that would mean some kind of revolution in editing @LW. But while revolution didn't happen, why not to try making some little improvement(s)? Though, to be frankly, I myself am not sure if it's really worth our efforts... :) nite, --Senvaikis (talk) 20:49, May 24, 2018 (UTC)
There's no reason we can't have both ;-) See examples. Still has a few major bugs: mw headers ==...== apparently lose their section edit links when transcluded; also there seems to be a script that increases header fontsize when the browser window is wide enough (so there's a visible difference between mw headers and faked headers). — 6×9 (Talk) 16:21, May 26, 2018 (UTC)
Well Done! Looks cool! Let's hope all bugs are fixable...:). Btw, - is this my question about one of them? Got it (onlyinclude), - sorry :) --Senvaikis (talk) 18:54, May 26, 2018 (UTC)

Might be necessary to remove section edit links entirely – without "proper" headers there are no sections anyway… For transcluded albums they would go to the album page anyway, but it would look weird to only have them on some headers. — 6×9 (Talk) 15:19, May 27, 2018 (UTC)

Deprecated js in SV namespace

I know it's a redundant (for you) msg, but my duty is to inform, that since today embedded audioplayer support is moved from Senvaikis' to MediaWiki's namespace and now it may be easily managed by your script prefs (menu "My Tools/Script preferences"), so you may remove the line User:Senvaikis/AudioPlayer-js from your common.js.

Blind Faith album art

The album art for the Blind Faith album shows a censored picture of the original cover. Reason: "image censored to avoid deletion (despite not violating wikia's ToU)". So I did a little research:

  • Wikipedia: shows the uncensored original cover
  • Amazon: shows the uncensored original cover
  • itunes: shows the uncensored original cover
  • AllMusic: shows the alternate cover for the main entry, but the uncensored original cover for later releases
  • Discogs: shows the uncensored original cover
  • Spotify: shows the uncensored original cover
  • MusicBrainz: shows the uncensored original cover

So, yesterday I changed the censored image in LW to the uncensored one, only to find this change reversed this morning. IMHO this doesn't make sense, especially since the reason given especially states that the picture "[is] not violating wikia's ToU". Please reconsider.--Vssm2004 (talk) 15:13, September 7, 2018 (UTC)

I agree with you 100%, LW originally never censored lyrics or album covers. Unfortunately, that is no longer a decision made by LW admins, but by Wikia staff. You'll also note that the reversion to the pixelated image wasn't done by me but by a Wikia bot. — 6×9 (Talk) 15:41, September 7, 2018 (UTC)
Too bad. BTW, I noticed that the change was made by a bot, but since I didn't know who runs the bot, I messaged to you as the original uploader/last editor of the image. Thanks anyway.--Vssm2004 (talk) 16:07, September 7, 2018 (UTC)

Other Songs, Bot Issue

Yesterday, I deleted a song from Joan Baez, Other Songs. Your bot has quickly reinstated it. See top lines here:[1]. Musicbrainz, Allmusic, and Discogs yield no recordings of this song by Joan Baez. She DOES appear on a 1959 album called Folk Singers 'Round Harvard Square - [2]. But John Henry is a vocal & guitar solo by Bill Wood - she doesn't even sing harmony - I've carefully listened to the recording. Bill Wood's John Henry is already on LW. This album was reissued 4 years later as the Best of Joan Baez, and again as Joan Baez, and some versions contain the Bill Wood recording, according to Discogs. There's an overview here at Discogs:[3]. If she doesn't appear as a vocalist or even an instrumentalist, how is it a Joan Baez Other Song? Thank you--Pastafazoo (talk) 12:50, October 9, 2018 (UTC)

  1. The steel driving man? Please see CreditBox.
  2. Other Songs: Please see: About "that" Bot hth. --ES (talk) 14:43, October 9, 2018 (UTC)
Someone who actually owns the LP referenced in the Discogs link in the CreditBox uploaded a "video" to YouTube - see: [4]. He deleted John Henry (4:10) because Baez isn't singing (in Show More). In your opinion, is the correct approach then to redirect this song to Bill Wood's song? Thanks! --Pastafazoo (talk) 17:34, October 9, 2018 (UTC)
Yes, redirect to Bill Wood:John Henry. Though the album @lw that contains Bill's songs contains oddities that you may be able to resolve... hth & tia --ES (talk) 18:36, October 9, 2018 (UTC)

Removing valid param

Neither redundant nor obsolete atm V by a bureaucrat? --ES (talk) 22:10, October 26, 2018 (UTC)

  1. Still in beta, format might change.
  2. Once out of beta will be incorporated into sf.
  3. No info lost, still accessible through album page (2 more clicks). — 6×9 (Talk) 06:52, October 27, 2018 (UTC)
You are still not clear: is using dog|comp prohibited? If it is, the place to indicate is on the {{dog}} page. --ES (talk) 07:08, October 27, 2018 (UTC)
This again? Above reasons are enough without having to explicitly prohibit it. Since you're not stupid, I have to assume that you're aware of that and that this is just your usual tactic in arguments. Sad that you still think you can get away with it. — 6×9 (Talk) 07:23, October 27, 2018 (UTC)
Well I checked all the song pages using dg, worst case (by count) was redundant single indication via dg when when local album exists and listed in SH. Thank you for the storm in the stein. Try some cool water? --ES (talk) 14:19, October 28, 2018 (UTC)

Fandom Feature?

After adding "cannot edit own tp" they edited their own tp , hence the protection. Glad you noticed. --ES (talk) 15:37, November 7, 2018 (UTC)

Weird. Maybe changes to an existing block don't catch on at once? We'll see whether there'll be more edits. — 6×9 (Talk) 16:29, November 7, 2018 (UTC)

Album Collabs

Please see one AC. Is this clearly explained in docs and I can't find it, or do you think some doc page needs an update? tia. --ES (talk) 22:56, November 7, 2018 (UTC)

Sebastian

Hello. I see you restore the single The Nights We Shared by Sebastian. You wrote "not quite", maybe it's because of Metro Message? This Metro Message was in some singles by this label (singles from 1989-1990). It's not the artist, it's the owner of the label. He always talks about the artists of the label and also do some jokes. There's also some samples of others artists singles. I found a video as example, it's the same style for all Metro Message, starting with "no words, no music, no beats" and some variations. Thank you. Songsbr (talk) 09:07, November 17, 2018 (UTC)

done Thanks, I hadn't been aware of that. — 6×9 (Talk) 09:21, November 17, 2018 (UTC)

Exists template and redirects

Hey, looks like this change to tl:Exists has caused pages calling {{SbA}} with a redirect to end up in Category:Invalid Template Parameters (example: Hannah Huston:Every Breath You Take). I'm not sure if it'd be better to update those redirect links or to change {{SbA}} to handle them correctly, so just letting you know for now! - OneTwoThreeFall talk 07:08, November 20, 2018 (UTC)

Thanks! Didn't really expect that change to go smoothly ;-) I had planned to categorise LtRs anyway, so this should be additional motivation. — 6×9 (Talk) 17:08, November 20, 2018 (UTC)
No problem - all looking good now! - OneTwoThreeFall talk 12:07, November 21, 2018 (UTC)

if online,

.. then could you please check this page and let me know if its eyt is avail in DE? It's not avail for me, though both polsy checker and Google Youtube api reports it as available in 70 countries, LT & DE including....--Senvaikis (talk) 20:01, December 3, 2018 (UTC)

Available here. Maybe your ISP gave you a funny IP? Or YT needs geography lessons… Or Google redefined various borders for tax reasons.6×9 (Talk) 20:57, December 3, 2018 (UTC)
Maybe I’m getting lil' bit paranoid, but the reason may be much more serious (YT's reaction to my massive requests during recent Lwt's YT validation job, f.e.). Sad news...--Senvaikis (talk) 21:38, December 3, 2018 (UTC)
No, - fortunately, my paranoidal suspicions did not come true - this video is not available for other Lithuanian SPs too. Don't even know whether to be happy about it or not - in any case, the conclusion is the same: for the time being I/Lwt should refrain from any massive yt validations. (just hate to not understand something) --Senvaikis (talk) 18:35, December 4, 2018 (UTC)

Promo releases

Another admin said that I should ask someone else about discussion of promos and whether or not they should be deleted. As you can see there, I have made an effort to find policy on promos but couldn't find it documented. Can you help here? —Justin (koavf)·T·C 17:59, December 15, 2018 (UTC)

This is covered on the help page – promos don't count as "officially released". — 6×9 (Talk) 17:13, December 16, 2018 (UTC)
Okay, marking for deletion as I find promos. —Justin (koavf)·T·C 00:47, December 17, 2018 (UTC)

Heilung

I'm currently working at the lyrics. I will add them as soon I got them ready (but it can take some more then 24 hours) — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wyverex02 (talkcontribs), 13:01, December 21, 2018‎.

Thanks, I've removed the notice. — 6×9 (Talk) 12:06, December 21, 2018 (UTC)
