Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment on July 23rd at age 27.
The troubled British singer launched to worldwide fame with her album Back to Black. One of her more famous songs of course, was Rehab, which featured the starkly defiant lyrics "They tried to make me go to rehab, I said no, no, no."
Winehouse was constantly in the tabloids for her drug abuse, mental health problems, and eating disorders. Her passing, while certainly tragic, doesn't exactly come as a surprise. Many fans, including her own Mother, predicted she wouldn't live past 30. At her final concert, one month ago in Yugoslavia, she was booed after greeting the audience with "Hello, Athens!"
The cause of death is not yet known, but speculation is that she died of a drug overdose. Winehouse is the sixth singer to join what is known as the "27 Forever Club"- populated by famous rock starts who died at 27, among them Brian Jones and Jimi Hendrix.
RIP Amy Winehouse, your music will be missed.
