Album of the Week

Lynyrd Skynyrd:(Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd) (1973)
was the Album of the Week from
24 August 2009 to 30 August 2009.

I wasn't alive when Lynyrd Skynyrd released their debut album, but after hearing these songs on the radio, I can imagine the album's impact on the music industry. Supported by the nine-minute anthem "Free Bird" (YouTube Icon Music video on YouTube) and the seven and a half minute "Tuesday's Gone" (YouTube Icon Music video on YouTube), Pronounced has everything a Southern rock fan needs. "Gimme Three Steps" (YouTube Icon Music video on YouTube) and "Simple Man" (YouTube Icon Music video on YouTube) remain classics on classic rock radio, and "Free Bird" has been the band's signature song for thirty-five years. I definitely think it deserves to be an album of the week. --Cubs Fan2007
